Weather with a twist
I’ve been a Dark Sky fan since day 1 and it has always been my go to weather app. Now it is part of Apple Weather and, well, you know. So here is Carrot and it is a really different approach to something we all talk about. Its forecasts are customisable and it’s GUI unique. It is part fun, part fact, and totally useable. Set it up the way you like it, and wait for the snark (if that’s your thing). As a non US user (UK) I am still waiting for the weather to prompt some of Carrot’s additional functions (Dynamic Island being the biggest) but so far the UK’s weather has been stable grey for the last few weeks. I’m no fan of subscriptions, but a developer has got to eat and so I stumped up the cash to get more function. I will revisit this review once it am more ‘seasoned’.

5 stars isn’t enough
Been scrummaging through the App Store for the perfect weather app…, till I found this. Had this for a few years, and so far, every single penny has been worth it. There isn’t enough words in the English Dictionary to describe how amazing this app is. If I could rate this absolute legend of an app 6 stars, I would. 5 stars is too little to what this app deserves.

Great app BUT!
Everything but the core function of the app is great - the design, CARROT’s subtle death threats, and the customisation that comes with it. But the accuracy for the forecast throughout the day, let alone the week, is really really terrible. I understand that the maker has nothing to do with the source, and I am not blaming them, but the source has proven completely unreliable continually over the last year. I love the app, but I put functionality above all other features (with great difficulty), and cannot find myself using this app to check the weather. Please focus your attention on this issue.
Update. The app’s accuracy has worsened, and moreover, it’s inconsistent with its own data. It’s one thing to have incorrect data pulled from a source, but it’s another thing to have your display read “UV index of 4 on Sunday” when the UV index graph says the peak is on Saturday, and Sunday is an index of 2. I don’t think I’ll ever uninstall the app, but I’d rather say something that not.

About as good as it gets.
Carrot is a fun app but under the humour lies the beating heart of the best, most accurate weather app you’re likely to find for iOS. With its Quick Swap of data source you can pretty quickly find the most accurate source for your location. Having said that, weather is fickle. It can vary widely just in a few kilometres. Sunny here, raining in town. This is especially true on a small island like Bali, Indonesia. So don’t be too hard on Carrot, she does the best she can with the available data.

Obnoxious Upsell
You’ve paid for the app, but every single time you open it to check the weather, you are harassed by an “upgrade to premium” full screen dialog that needs to be dismissed. No option to dismiss forever, because that would make less money.
This app was good, but it has changed into something greedy. There’s multiple tiers of “premium” subscriptions— after you’ve already paid for the app— an app for weather.
Features behind subscription tiers are what you would expect any normal weather app to include for free. If this company sold a calculator app they would charge a monthly fee if you wanted to press the number 7. Maybe an extra premium tier to get 3 multiplications per month.
Just sad really. I’d love to know the story behind the progressive demise of this app, my assumption is the general trend of ens**tification that happens to every good thing that’s ever existed.
Just steer clear, I’m sure better things have come out. If you don’t mind being milked for another nonsense subscription, then go ahead, there’s a lot of good things behind all those paywalls.

Great app will give $ to the apps tip jar !
Great app very accurate weather with so many settings…example…getting access to nearby weather stations .(this app has not got my local Weather station which is only 5klms from my property …….but has access to a weather station about 25 klms away …………the app developers probably need more $ to have access to more local radars for their app users
But overall a great app for me !

It’s been a long time…
But after many years I want to say the work that goes into this app, and the value for money at each subscription level, puts so many developers to shame.
There is incredible detail available and the flexibility of the layouts in which to view the information in the way it is needed, and to only view what is needed, it feels endless. I have to admit I have lost hours in studying the information I needed – but also lots I didn’t need but was just interested in.
This is the only app I have ever put a little in the ‘Tip Jar’, and have done on a few occasions, and although I can’t manage a large tip I want to show that I appreciate that the app isn’t just resting on it’s many laurels. There seems to be something new whenever I have time to spend a while exploring – new features, more information and more availability for different parts of the world.

Accurate Weather with a side of Snark
Accurate and hilarious!
Yeah, for a hostile app it’s pretty alright
This is good fun and pretty cool trying to find out the hidden achievements I also love finding the landmarks on the map. Worth every minute I ignore it.
Enjoy your weather - no matter what
I’m a weather person - I like to prepare myself for the conditions so imagine my absolute delight at finding the most comprehensive weather app known to the Apple App Store. Full of jokes, you can also customise the Carrot weather bot to swear at you (it’s funny!) play discovery games (fog, snow, thunderstorms are all part of the badges to earn) and enjoy the weather conditions in a variety of ways. Living in Sydney, the UV Index is a must and even shows on the Apple watch app. You can customise sources on the free version and if you’re an extreme weather nerd, you can customise everything with a premium subscription. All the love for this app! Long live Carrot Weather.
