Great idea for an app, BUT...

Apogee have got a great little recording app here. Nicely laid out, one can transfer .wav recordings to one's computer via USB easily in iTunes using the App File Share function.

However, my one really BIG gripe with this app is... When I record with this app using 44.1kHz and 16Bit on an iPhone 6s, the recordings end up with a rapid clicking throughout the entire file during playback. Saying that, the app records fine using 48kHz and 24Bit settings, producing some really great .wav format recordings, regardless of the source i.e. whether with the Sennheiser MKE 2 or their ClipMic, Apogee's Duet or even if straight through the iPhone's built-in mic.

It's a shame about this one issue, as it makes it useless to record in other sample rates and bit depths (which is important for me, being an audio engineer). I hope Apogee sort this bug out and make it the truly versatile recording app that it was meant to be.

2/5 at the moment... But once this issue is sorted, I'll give it a 5/5.

Superior Quality

I have the apogee mic 24/48 and the iPhone 6 64GB. This great to be used for voice over commercials and field recording and the audio tag/settings are very helpful when getting raw out in the field!!!

Dropbox support doesn't often work

I have a new iPhone 6s with the latest iOS and app updates and 90% of the time I can't upload the audio files from the app to Dropbox. I think it's a wav file size issue... But it's a fantastic recorder but it's a pain to get the files off the phone.

Works great for me

This recording app is designed to work with a specific microphone:
the "Apogee Mic". I have tried it with my iPhone 5 and it works just fine and has a very clear intuitive interface. I have quite a few other recording apps on my iPhone and this one is one of my favorites.

Looking good but failing to Dropbox

After a bit of poking around, I found the User Interface to be pretty good and straightforward. It was well thought out. However, today after the first attempt to try and get a 31MB file off my phone to Dropbox, the app stopped after the first few "takes" and kept quitting. Maybe 10% of the data made it to Dropbox. Restarts of my phone didn't matter. iPhone 4S, iOS 9.0.2. How shall I get this big file off my phone now? Email is looking like a bulky option.

Big Bad Bug

If using the Sennheiser ClipMic with this app, it works flawlessly, when it wants to. Sometimes the app imposes the 60 second "free" limit and your audio stops recording. Sometimes it works fine. This is a huge bug and I'm downright shocked that it hasn't been fixed yet.

9/14: I contacted Apogee tech support and they claim a bug fix for the app is coming "soon" and they are aware of the problem. Time will tell....

Awkward interface

App has an awkward interface that gets in the way of making a quick, simple and reliable recording. I went to the company website to to see if I could get some clarity on whether my recording still existed. You have to create an account first before you contact them. Not sure what the value added in this is but it seems apt given my experience with the app.

Bug. Needs a fix

I agree with the other reviewers. There is a critical bug that removes the purchase and stops recording after 1 minute. App has been out since May. No excuse for not fixing it. Wish I hadn't bought the upgrade. Glad I don't own one of the external Mocs this is supposed to work with.

Other Apps are much better at this....

I am a Voiceover Artist and I regularly need my iPhone to voice fix script changes while I'm away from my studio. So I am constantly on the look out for recording Apps which can make my remote VO career a little easier.

First of all I like the look of this App the black interface is retro and pleasing and it's good that it can cope with 96khz 24bit recordings. Input monitoring is here. That's also good. Unfortunately this App just does not cut it as a tactile editor with pro features. It's very similar to the Rode app, which is not great either. Cutting is complicated and not detailed enough for professional use.

I feel that both Apogee and Rode make amazing hardware (I use both)....but their software falls short.

The King in the field of iOS single track mono/stereo recording is TwistedWave. It's is a paid for app, but it's definitely worth it if you intend to use it regularly. It's a different world of professionalism to The Apogee and Rode apps. Editing and emailing to clients is easy and can be done literally in a pinch.

So plug your excellent Apogee mic and Rode iXY microphones into your iPhone/iPads and download TwistedWave.

Still limited

Even after unlocking 'unlimited' recording, I am limited to a little over 1 hour of continuous recording. This wasn't a problem with version 1.0. Why has this been introduced?! Nowhere on their website to ask or give feedback.
