  • Boring

Glimmers of clever, ends up feeling tedious and dull.
  • Added to my "permanent" screen within a few plays

This is such a great app. Within a few plays it landed on the screen I reserve for apps I never plan to delete. If you like the game there is really no reason to. It combines puzzle and fantasy elements wonderfully. You get to unlock and choose from characters with varying special abilities. You also get to design the map, which is basically weapon tiles. Not only can these be combined to produce great synergies, they can also be selectively upgraded and become more powerful sometimes gaining special powers of their own. In the end this is a high score game, but the number of possible strategies makes it infinitely replayable.

  • Innovative

This is a great concept with some real promise, but pretty significant issues. The gameplay can be repetitive, and because things don't start to get interesting until you've leveled up some weapons, the first part of most games aren't that interesting. I'm also a big believer that sound and music can really enhance or take away from gaming, even on a puzzler. There is no music here, and the sound consists of a discordant guitar note played every time you make a move. It's possibly the worst sound effect choice I've seen in a game in years.

  • Addictive

Brilliant little strategy game. It takes a bit of effort to figure it out but once you remember what each tile does, the game really opens up.
  • Sublime

Has a bit of a learning curve but after a few games things start to make sense in this roguelike / deck-building / RPG game. Like the other games from this dev, months if not years of play can be expected.
  • A simple but addictive game

Simple but clever and beautifully executed game. Perfect learning curve with additions to characters and tiles as you progress to maintain interest. Wonderfully free of in-app pay-to-pay purchases.

The only reason not to get this game is the same reason I may have to delete it from my phone soon: it is utterly, utterly addictive.

  • Beautiful piece of art

I have never reviewed an app but I'm in love with this game. I've never played a game like it. I'm an artist and recognize the beautiful simplicity of working within tight parameters to create something deceptively complex. Bravo!!
  • Brilliant!

Another brilliant game by Michael Brough. An evolution of the rogue-like game Brough successfully explored with Zaga-33 & 868-Hack.

Biggest addition to the genre are weapon floor tiles that can level up. Finding the right weapon tile to kill enemies brings some strategic flare. The ability to customize tile layout after getting an intermediate score brings a deep layer of strategy that feels like building the perfect game card deck.

    Thanks for a wonderful game!

  • Better than 868 hack

If I wasn't such a huge fan of his work I might not have stuck with this game, but I'm so glad I did. It takes a little while to grasp all the concepts but when you do it all just clicks so well. Really deep and engaging, and such great pacing for mobile too.
  • Another home-run

M.B. hits it out of the park again. It's only when I lose hours in a game I write reviews. This enigmatic game is well worth both your time and money. A novel and absorbing blend of genres. Highly original. Thanks Michael :-)
