Best app and reliable app money well spent

Response from developer

Thank you so much, this means a lot

Cool, but needs work

This app is solid, and does a great job of what you need it to do. I will co ti he to use it. But some of the functionality is off. For example, if you select a show, decide you don’t like it, you’ll need it follow the pathway to searching for it and unselecting it. To refresh artwork, you must do so manually. And load times are quite slow all things considered. To be clear, it’s a few little tweaks away from being great. Just not there quite yet.

Hi Craig, Glad you are enjoying the app! To fix notifications, try toggling the setting off then back on in the app, and double check that notifications are turned on for the app in the Settings app. As for the feedback feature, I am working on fixing this up. On my website I removed the contact form as I thought it was slightly buggy, and instead have the site open your default mail client to send feedback. On iOS I use the native mail composer, but if it is unavailable the app still tries to open up the contact form I deleted on the website already. Oops! Going to add it back soon. Best, Maximilian Litteral

Was and is good but developer is disingenuous

Those who paid for premium features prior to Max changing his revenue model got screwed out of features of the new one. Anyone who tells him that and he tells a red herring about time being put into the app. I develop, fork, etc. open source software and have for years, and not once have I guilt tripped users for expressing disappointment in a change of monetization or blocking features.

Hey, I’m not really sure what you’re referencing. Every feature that was previously available is unlocked and supported for users who bought the app previously. Television Time Plus is only required for new features like stats, new alternate icons, and some future features I’m working on. I’ve also never intentionally guilt tripped anyone. When contacted i try to set expectations that I’m a team of 1 and work on my apps on the weekends because some people do think this app is developed by a team of people full time.

Long time user

I have been using this app for a few years. I love the interface as it is clean and easy to use. I bought the app when it was $5. Now that it’s subscription based, I haven’t had to pay anything as it provides everything it had before but not sure if that’s because I had previously purchased or if it’s because the extras are not obvious cash grabs. At this point, I would recommend this app. Would have been 5 stars but waiting to see if subscription model becomes intrusive.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review. You are correct in that previously available features have remained unlocked for purchasing the app previously. I don't plan to make the subscription intrusive, and will hopefully avoid that. I will only show the subscription page when a new feature is available that will require Plus such as lists, or the new Year in Review stats screen. But they will never be required to use the app as it was before.

Search & Add

I have had this app since 2019 & paid for it, now I can’t search, discover or add unless I pay monthly or yearly. I am truly upset about this. I loved this app but now whats the point of using it if I have to pay again to search & add when I paid for that option already

Response from developer

Sorry for the trouble. Search and Discover are working again now. Television Time Plus is not required for those features, and because you purchased the app previously, is not required ever to track the series you want to follow. What happened is that the service I use, Trakt.tv, was down between December 11 and December 20. Their database unexpectedly crashed and their site and API were down as they recovered the data and brought back their service. They're back now, so the app should be working just as before. If you have any other trouble please reach out and I'd be happy to help.

TV API is broke, worked great prior

So the API this relies on is broke but it worked great before. Once this is fixed, I hope it would work great again. I bought this app awhile ago but now I see these new prices which are just insane…. Hopefully since I bought this long before I don’t have to worry about them.

Normally works great

I’ve really enjoyed this app but there appears to be a bug recently with the discover tab. You can type in the search bar for a new show but the app just spins and spins and no longer produces results. Hopefully just a bug that can be fixed.

Crazy price changes

I’ve been using the app for about a year now, and it’s been pretty useful for tracking shows. While I understand the desire for every developer to switch from one time payments to the subscription model, I just don’t understand the thought process some have when it comes to deciding how to price it. This app went from a one time purchase of $5 to an annual subscription of $10. Historically, it’s had pretty infrequent updates, so I’m not sure why they felt it justified to take the price we paid one time and make us pay double it yearly. Or to pay an even more insane $75 one time purchase again. For existing users, it’s not like we are getting any real increase in value. I could somewhat understand maybe a $5/year annual subscription to help fund ongoing development. But $10 is just way too much. And I don’t see many new users finding it worth that much either. And for existing users, we should be able to get a discount on the new “lifetime” purchase. It’s a good app, which is why I’m leaving 3 stars and would have given it 5 before. But it seems like the dev just went into greedy cash grab mode now.

Response from developer

Hello and thank you for the review. The new prices are based on how I truly value the app and my time. Traditionally app prices are a race to the bottom. I can’t price my tv tracker app if another is $0.99. By making it free to try I can now let the app speak for itself and let people decide if the price is worth the value. As an existing user of the app I’ve also kept all existing features available for free. I intentionally introduced the subscription without many new features for existing users because I want to focus on quick, focused updates. I needed to see if spending hundreds of hours designing and developing new features would be worth the time; and so far I am very happy with how Television Time Plus is going so far. I’ve already added new features for existing users such as Year in Review, and I’m currently working on adding features to improve organization such as lists and tags, with the ability to share lists with friends and family, and more. I’ve been supporting Television Time since 2015, and Television Time Plus is the best way I can continue. I hope this look behind the curtain helps at least explain my reasons for the price changes. I hope that the new features I’m working on will prove their worth for the price of subscription, and I’m always open to feedback in ways to improve the value and usefulness of the app. Best, Maximilian Litteral

Alternate View

Pleas Please Please
I would love to have a view choice of “Currently Watching” I enjoy going through shows that have ended or re-watching. I also want the current shows with upcoming air dates. Would love to have the option to manually select the shows to keep at the top.
Thank you

Response from developer

Hi there, you can archive shows from the Shows tab by swiping across them, and that way you can keep unarchived the shows you're currently watching. If you sort by airdate as well the shows should sort by when they're airing or alphabetical if the dates are unknown yet.

Gold Standard TV Tracking App 🥇

I’ve been trying all of the free TV tracking apps, but none of them hit all the marks. I pulled the trigger to purchase this app and give it a try… and so glad I did! Really great app guys!

Love: the overall interface, grid view option, and the clear countdown on when the next showing will be, ease of checking off a watched show, no troubles finding any show I’ve searched for, no bugs so far, great Discover section broken up into streaming services, etc… and really like the “anticipated” suggestions for something new, and it looks great on my iPad (which I tend to use more in this case).
