Getting me through high school

I use this app all the time when I do homework. Its so simple but it really helps, especially on projects where there many natural break points. It really helps me stay on task without getting overworked and frustrated. Would completely recommend

Mostly solid but Watch app could do with some love

I use this pretty much every day to help focus through the less exciting parts of work. There are two things that would help make this a five-star app:

1. The ability to easily set different focus lengths. Some times you need 25 minutes focus to get started, but once you are up and rolling it would be nice to easily move this up to, say, 45 minutes.

2. A Watch app that actually works. There are way too many times where the app just sits there and finally closes. And this is on a newer version Apple Watch.

Response from developer

Hi, the Apple Watch app got some love: we've just shipped an update featuring a new and redesigned Apple Watch app for Focus. I hope you'll like the new version! Best, - Jan ___________ Changing the session length more easily is a good idea, we will look into it. Regarding the Watch app: make sure it finishes the loading process once (during that time the screen must be turned on otherwise it will start from the beginning again; you can rotate the digital crown to achieve that). Once it has finished loading, the launch and response time should be much quicker afterwards. If that does not work, please get in touch: hello@meaningful-things.com Best, Jan.

Best pomodoro timer

Loving I helping me get p oceans right for tomato timer. Technique :)

The best pomodoro app

I've tried a bunch of pomodoro apps and they all fall short of my expectations, particularly around syncing between devices and the quality of the watch app. This is the first that I'm happy with. The developers are continuing to improve the app and are very responsive to feedback. Recommended.

Subscription for this?

I get it, subscription is a good way for developers to get paid reasonable. But for a timing app to need subscription to be usable is stretching it a bit. Not only that, you’re targeting yourself to anyone to create a simple app that does everything you do without subscription and your business model is gone.
If you want to get into subscription model be creative and make a product that warrants that, a timer app will never do that.

No notifications!

Everything is fine, but when you are not in the app (locked your phone, etc.) and the sessions finish, it doesn’t show you any notifications or play any sounds and when you open the app, it tells you the session is finished and starts the next session.
If they fix this notifications thing, it will be awesome!

Great App, Just Needs Reminders Integration

If there was a way to integrate reminders, I would be a life long customer and push this to everyone I know.

As it is, I have to manually move tasks over to this app from apple reminders app and then check the task off of each app separately.

Some syncing would be nice, take a look at fantastical ;)

A must for any creative person

I’m an avid writer and keeping track of my writing sessions has always been somewhat of a challenge. That was until I discovered the pomodoro technique. Intuitively, I began looking for an app to assist me in tracking my sessions. Luckily, I found Focus. I have to admit that at first I was very skeptical. Actually, I gave up on Focus at one point. But I simply couldn’t find anything better. Then, they released an update around the release date of the iPhone X and it was everything I was looking for in a pomodoro tracker with the analysis, insight and stability lacking not only in the previous version but also from every other version of every other pomodoro tracker app. If you are a productivity app junkie like me, look no further. This app is easily in my top 3.

Dodgy Subscription Signup, not good enough

Sorry guys, this is not cool. I will adjust this review if you bother to change this behaviour.

1. There is no notice, no information, nothing about your switch to subscription.
2. No information for existing users
3. No information about pricing when starting the app, and so on.
4. No information on pricing in the app itself

The app blindsides the user, giving you no option but to engage the ‘Pro’ subscription. It does not adequately explain what is happening. This amounts to automatically enrolling a user, which is blatantly against the terms and conditions of the App Store. Whether you are or not, it looks like you are hiding the pricing. Whether you are or not, it looks like you are treating users as if they are stupid.

Having been a happy user of this app for a couple of years, I would have been happy to evaluate the subscription on its merits. Because I had to go out of my way to look into the pricing, which is not even obvious on the website. it now looks way overpriced. $4 a month is comparable to some premium apps. But as I say, if I had not been blind-sided by the automatic subscription I might have been inclined to look at it differently.

I don’t begrudge developers like yourselves the means to support yourselves and develop your app. Just don’t treat users like idiots and you might get more support.

Please think about sorting out your welcome process, make the pricing obvious and clear.

Response from developer

We're still waiting for your update ;-) //Original response: Hi, Thanks for this review and sorry that you feel misinformed about our new Pro subscription. Let me answer point by point, so there is no confusion: 1. We informed our users over Twitter and our Newsletter about the upcoming move to subscription in advance. 2. We have a detailed explanation on our website for what happens when you're an existing customers (www.masterbuilders.io/support -> Note to existing customers). 3. & 4. You can see the pricing within the App when you go to Settings > Subscription or when you tap/click on a Pro button somewhere. A Store view should open where every subscription option is listed with it's price, the subscription duration and the duration of the free trial. No one is enrolled automatically (and we wouldn't even if it were technically possible). If you have questions, please get in touch and I will be happy to walk you through the new features and answer all your questions: hello@masterbuilders.io Thanks, - Jan

Not useful for ongoing tasks

Waste of nearly $7! Looks good but there are no 'detailed statistics' (should have realised this when they never showed any screenshots of stats) and cannot handle ongoing tasks. To switch tasks you have to say that you have completed the current task and then can't return to it later because it's completed! Stats are merely a record of when you 'completed' a task but since you have no choice but to 'complete' it to change tasks it's pointless. Don't waste your money
