Doesn’t recognize US passport hologram easily
Last year I used it and it worked great, this year seems not as good or more sensitive.
I understand the need for high security, but I would suggest the following:
1) Immediate feedback if hologram quality isn’t good enough. That way we can immediately retake the picture/video. If this part doesn’t require a human to check it should be possible.
2) If the proof-of-life (ie selfie with head movement) is ok, allow for only the document/hologram part to be resubmitted rather than go through the whole procedure again.
These 2 points are because a lot of elderly persons need assistance when using the app so immediate feedback or just redoing a part of the procedure would help make it easier.
We will be completing now via snail mail.

Inability to use app
I have been trying to use the scan method, which would be very convenient, but it is not letting me. I try and scan the code but have a notice that says information is missing. I try to enter manually but I have no 12 digit assigned to my mom’s code. There is an 8 digit number at the top of her document And another set of numbers at the top left corner, but it is a 17 digit set of numbers and letters

Hello PebblesCounter! Scanning the QR code on the letter to provide proof of life must not be done with the Postident app. Scan the code on the letter with a standard QR code scanner (own app/integrated camera function). You will then receive a 12-digit transaction number on the website, which you can copy into the Postident app. Your POSTIDENT team.
Was not able to satisfy the requirements of proof of life with this app.

The message always come up as following
The holograms and security features on your document are not recognisable well enough.
Please try again and follow the instructions in the app. In particular, please make sure that your identification document is tilted correctly and that you habe good lightning conditions.
