App needs improvement
My two star rating is for the app only. ABUS the company is great to deal with. I am using the ABUS Bordo 6500A SmartX folding lock, which is also very nice.
The automatic keyless entry using the app does not work well. Sometimes when I approach the lock, it continually connects and disconnects. I have to force quite the the app and manually unlock the lock in the app.
Other times I have to force quite the app so that I could connect to the lock.
A few times, I had a difficult time altogether connecting to and unlocking the lock.
On the very few times the lock worked as described, it was great.
I hope that ABUS is able to improve the app to work properly and consistently.
I am running a iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 16.3.1, which is currently the latest version, and the most updated firmware for the lock.
ABUS … if you need a beta tester for any software or firmware upgrades, I am willing to help.

Gets stuck on loading screen
I also experience the issue others have mentioned where the app will get stuck on the blue screen with the Abus logo, and must be force closed and reopened to unlock the lock. I also had to reinstall the app to get it to run (and pair the lock again) after restoring my phone from a backup.
Other than that, I have not had any problems with the functions of the app or the lock.

Nightmare when changing phones
Just changed to iPhone and the app just keeps crashing as I went to get my bike u locked. Had to hide the battery and walk as in a rush and now late. Will have re-download app and start again but not even sure I can as bike is locked I a basement with little reception. Not happy and about to be charged for missing a class I’m now late for stupid app and clunky lock

Love the lock
App needs updating. Needs better user interface but the hardware works great. The gap between both needs to be fixed
Works (just not as it should)
I have my SmartX now for over a year and on the positive side: I was always able to open the lock with the Abus App on my iphone.
Not so nice though:
1. Auto Unlock hardly ever works
2. When I start the app on my iphone (13; iOS16) it mostly appears stuck in just a blue screen. I then have to kill the app in the task manager and restart and then it comes up as expected and does the job
3. The last time the app has been updated was more than a year ago. Given the issues and the premium price you pay for the lock, I would expect more ongoing maintenance.
