Fix the app please

I have used the app regularly for over two months now ,I may have to cancel my subscription because the app is frozen and does not work

Great!

Wonderful resource. I wish it had a general journal tool though, as the weekly check-in is quite structured which isn’t always needed. And I wish the journal entries after the guided audios allowed more writing space.

Downloaded the app but can not sign up

When I press the open button and go to sign up nothing happens. Is there a password rule that I am not obeying? Is this app still supported?

Does not work

Trying to get into the app and just get spinning thing. Tried deleting it and turning my phone off and installing it again.
I had an account but cannot even get into the app. It worked once, then this.

Not ADHD-friendly

Lots of menus, exercises are many steps, audio can’t be sped up.

Unable to create a new sign in account

Unable to create a new sign in account after many attempts.

Can’t get passed the login/sign up page

Downloaded it and tried to sign up, it just stops every time and doesn’t work. Tried to see if it had signed me up without saying anything, but the login page is the same.. starts to do something and then just stops. Pointless app of you can’t even use it!

Not very good for anxiety

Shame you can’t give - marks!!! Down loaded Go to create an account and it won’t let you. And this is supposed to help your mental health. NOT.

Fees for use should be disclosed before logging in

It annoys the heck out of me that apps can ask for my email and name before telling me that I need to pay to access the content. You got my info for free. That lacks informed consent. If you were a mental health professional, you’d know that was a big ethical no-no.

Response from developer

There's quite a lot of free content in the app which you can try out before deciding whether or not to pay for full access. Your email address is simply used to create a login account, we never share it with any third parties or send you promotional emails.

The recent updates are great!

Thank you. With the additional features, e.g. Dropping Anchor exercises, I feel I have all the tools I need in one place. I used to have to exit the App and go into my saved audio files if I wanted to practice dropping anchor. Now it’s here in the App. Same goes for other ACT tools that I wanted to practice but weren’t on the old version of the App. Now they’re here. Great improvements. Thank you! I recommend this App, Dr. Harris’ books, and the online course to everyone. Life changing stuff that can help everyone wherever one might be in life.

What did i pay for?

I downloaded this app on 2 May 2015 and paid $14.99. Over the years, the developers have locked the majority of exercises behind a subscription paywall. This is poor form. I don’t trust that paying for a “lifetime subscription” would mean you would receive full access into the future because it certainly didn’t for me so buyer beware. I paid $14.99 in good faith only to be locked out of the majority of the app.

Can’t set up account

Was trying to check it out to possibly recommend to a client but stuck at create account screen with the endlessly spinning icon. Don’t tell me to download the latest version as I just did.

Not possible to make new account

I’m looking forward to see what this app has to offer. Over the course of two days and multiple attempts, I have not been able to make a new account or log in.

Good app for reducing stress

The exercises are great for helping you distance from your thoughts and regulate your emotions. It helps if you’re familiar with Acceptance Commitment Therapy principals. ACT is easy to understand if you watch a video on YouTube or read one of the books.

meditation ends under Lock Screen

Really enjoy the app, but during longer meditations, such as “notice your emotion,” it ends after a couple minutes when iPhone screen closes. Need a way to keep it open for entire 11 minutes.

Response from developer

We'll be releasing an update to fix this issue very soon. Please accept our apologies in the meantime.

Edited review since update Jan ‘22

Below is my previous review but since the app has been updated and revamped I no longer have access to the lifetime subscription I paid for.

I emailed their customer service to find out what my logins are (I think they may have been automatically generated since I didn’t need log ins previously - some apps do this and it’s usually not problematic). However now it seems to have completely erased the registration I had and logged me out since update.

I’ve been completely IGNORED! I’m annoyed to not have gotten any response since I’m a loyal user and trusted this app to buy the full price version.

Considering this is a mental health app you’d think they’d care more about their customers.
Previously I loved this app but now… Be careful with this one. Might just be after your money short term rather than honouring the purchase agreement to their customers.

Previous review:

Really helpful app. I loved the free version and have now subscribed. One of my go to for self care. This is a great resource of tools that can be used alongside professional support. This model is helpful in reminding someone to check in with themselves and not get too caught up in negative thoughts. I’ve noticed the last update was a year ago, I hope the developers continue to work on the app and keep it up to date because I’ve become a unlimited subscriber

Doesn’t recognize me after new update

It looks like the app has been redesigned. It asked me to sign in again. It says my email doesn’t exist?! I paid a one-time fee for the app a couple of years ago. I used to get reminders several times a day. I have a lot of data in there that I don’t want to lose. What gives?!

Response from developer

Please send a message to support@actcompanion.com and we'll get your access restored straight away.

Act Companion Errors

Can’t create a new user. I’m getting a “cannot connect to the server” error. Big waste of time…

Doesn’t work

Tried on multiple occasions to create an account. The timer spins for some number of minutes as though it’s loading and then says “request has timed out”.

Impossible for me to comment on the content of the app. Although it seems like others’ complaints are valid: the app is not updated.

Log In Failure

Cant log in. Says ‘Request Time Out’.
