I was fully prepared to pay the $29 monthly subscription—and I was even considering spending nearly $300 on the annual plan—because I genuinely wanted to incorporate HeyGen into my content creation workflow. The entire reason I paid the $10 weekly fee was to test the service first and determine whether it was something worth investing in long-term.
Unfortunately, I feel completely misled by this experience.
I connected HeyGen to my ChatGPT account and attempted to generate my content through that integration. Those attempts failed, so I came directly into the HeyGen app and tried to create the video manually. After spending a significant amount of time setting up avatars, recording footage, cloning my voice, troubleshooting errors, and attempting to generate my content, I STILL have not received one usable finished video.
Not one.
Yet somehow, after already paying $10 for a one-week subscription, I am now being told that I have reached my Video Agent limit and need to upgrade my plan to continue.
That is incredibly frustrating. I do not believe the weekly plan makes it clear enough how quickly these credits or Video Agent limits can be exhausted, especially when a customer can go through this entire process without receiving a single usable final product.
I wasn’t unwilling to pay for this service. I was literally prepared to become a paying monthly or annual customer. What changed my mind was paying $10, spending a considerable amount of my time trying to get the service to work, receiving no usable video, and then being asked for MORE money before I could even accomplish the reason I subscribed in the first place.
At this point, I have canceled my subscription because I feel duped. I essentially spent $10 for nothing. I have no completed video that I can actually post, and the primary thing I have received from the service is a request to upgrade and spend more money.
I sincerely hope this feedback reaches someone who can address the way the weekly trial experience and Video Agent limitations are communicated to customers, because this experience turned someone who was fully prepared to purchase a long-term subscription into someone who no longer wants to spend any additional money with the company.
Quite frankly, the entire experience has been incredibly disappointing.
