There’s a reason why I always go back to Uber for cabs.
Amber Cars are just incredibly unreliable. They’re cheaper, on the whole, and don’t apply the surcharge that Uber do when there’s high demand.
However, the service is just all over the place.
I’ve just booked a cab. The app told me that it would be 4 minutes.
Then the timer goes up to 6 minutes. Then 5…and stays at 5 minutes for at least 10 minutes.
Then the timer goes back up to 6 minutes…and stays there for 5 minutes.
The next time I look at the app, the driver has cancelled the job, and the app’s finding me another driver.
I mean, what the hell?? I’ve been waiting since 7:40, and the job was cancelled at 8:00.
Bloody useless. Don’t bother.

Booking on line
Every time I book on the app and pay the on it they hardly even turn up says it coming then another driver comes then disappears waited over half hour for them in the end I cancelled and took the bus it more reliable
User friendly app
Despite what you think about Amber Cars, this review is based on the app, NOT the service! So, as for the app, I genuinely like it! Very user friendly and the fixed price reassures me that I will not try to be charged anything else other than what I paid for in the app. I prefer to order my cab this way because of it so that (some) drivers cannot lie and try to get you to pay more than what was agreed on the phone when it comes to paying in cash.
As for service, 95% of the time I have not had an issue with amber. Have used them for many years now.

Not a reliable cab service 👎👎
I will never use Amber cars in Plumstead again, so unreliable. Twice I have ordered a cab from them & I’m waiting & waiting & I call the cab office to ask where they are. I am told the cab is not coming now because of traffic or they're no longer coming to the area I am in 🤬🤬 so why the hell don’t these cab drivers or the person in the cab office communicate with me & tell me this? Been waiting bloody 30 minutes. They are useless & never again.

Payment issues
So i downloaded the app as a more convenient way to access amber cars without having to draw out cash every time. My payment card has been added correct as my hilling address appears on my bank account but the app keeps failing to take payment at the point of checking with the bank. The app is very buggy and cheaply made.

This app is the worst recommended cab service, some drivers don’t turn up, takes forever to even get a booking not the service you need or should trust if you’re in a hurry

Can’t change payment method
The app won’t let you change your default method of payment, delete an old card, or even add a new one.
Is it working?
Doesn’t let me register my phone. No sms received then error 403.
Charged my card even though booking failed
Had to contact my bank and dispute the charge in order to get it back, since calling amber cars said it was up to the bank and they couldn't do anything on their end to refund it.
App needs a big turn around
The app has many problems from not being able to cancel a cab that isn’t moving at 10 minutes to half the roads and places not coming up unless you put a postcode in it!
Don't use.
Don't use if you wanna be on time anywhere. Booked taxis via app, taxi gets dispatched to arrive at the set time. Then office overrides the app, cancels the car and sends later. This always cars to arrive late. If you complain they blame the app. Bad company, use uber.

Awful don't bother, cause the head office puts calls above it. When I complained was met with a surly operator will never use this company again.
New stunning app does not work
It does not let you add new card or modify existing ones, you cannot book with credit card payment because it returns a missing security code error (and does not ask for it). Result, you have to call and pay cash!! RUBBISH!! Keep the old one!!
Works but just add 10 mins to every est Pick up
App works fine and is quick BUT for every est pick up add 10-15 minutes to get it right u open it say get a can in eg 5 mins u book then takes 5 min for cab to be dispatched then up to 10 mins for cab to arrive all tho it says/said 5 mins pick up its a joke
Unhappy
My driver collected me and took a different route than I have ever done to my destination. Only for him to pull up outside his house and say he was just collecting something from home!! Got out the car, went to his house and filled the boot up!!
Not happy
Tried on many occasions to book via there app but continues to say the is no car available even though I selected may different times to be picked up. Still no car available. It's if they are extremely busy constantly or there app just ain't up to scratch. I know my option.

I booked a cab on this app , it said it would be 4 minutes , I waited 20 and then called them - they said there had been problems and asked where I'd like my cab from
And to but mentioned I'd paid on the app with credit card , the lady on the phone then put me on hold and within 20 seconds the phone was put down , I then rang back and the phone was literally answered and then put down again , the third time I called the automated voice booking system started speaking so I checked the app to see if the booking was still there and I received a notification telling me it had been cancelled , so half an hour after booking my four minute cab I'm still at home and had to book from another company , I'm waiting to take my little boy home to his mum and the app playing up is fair enough but putting the phone down on me twice takes the absolute Pi** , Im a paying customer and have been for years and while they/ you may not miss my custom or value it in the slightest, I would rather walk to Scotland than rely on a cab from Amber cars
