Disappointed in some of the upgrades
I did give you a five star review, I’ve been impressed with some of the things that I found over the years. But I don’t like the changes in the search train, can’t find anything lately. I also noticed that I never get responses from you when I report something that’s wrong. But when you search for someone the name of the person you’re looking for should come up first and not all those weird names that don’t match or weird places or different countries even !somebody screwed that up!

Finding My Roots
I found my first African ancestors in America through Ancestry DNA.A genealogist,M.Collier from Roots Revealed.com was able to use that info to trace our common African ancestors.
Family tree UI/Layout is great but I have to pay to use records for my information
It found the correct records for one of my family members, but to use it for my information I have to buy it, thats so stupid, I hate these money hungry people..
Fun and frustrating
I had dna done over 5 years ago with Ancestry, but lost the #, and my old tree.
I took a photo of my grandparents grave, shared it with my cousin, and I am trying to get it back.
Census states my great grandparents had 12 children, 8 emig., but this records only they had 8 children.
I know my grandfather died in Philadelphia, but can’t fix it as a cousin wrote a different place.

Bugs need fixing
I love the platform, but when I use my widgets on the home screen as of late, I can no longer change which tree is displayed which is inconvenient. And the app also keeps logging me out unless I open it from the widget I do have set up, which is also inconvenient. Please fix these bugs!
It’s useful
It’s okay and all but why can’t have more Native American documents, actual blood related families that are not mixed up with others family and lower down the membership like at least 10 bucks? And lower down the dna also?! People want to learn about their families and history, heritage!!!
Gone downhill
Was good once. Now won’t stay signed in on iPhone. Finally got signed back in AGAIN. Had to download my complete tree again. Last numerous additions I made were gone. Of course, they provide no support except the usual AI idiotic advice I could get from a 12-year old.
Too much American stuff
I hate how the App shows us so called history, famous ancestors etc but they are all from the USA. Things about NYC, Ellis Island etc .which are completely irrelevant to the ancestors of mine that you associate them with. The men and women achieved a lot in other important parts of the world such as UK & Australia, they had absolutely nothing to do with the USA. Please stop insulting our ancestors by incorrectly associating them with that one country!

Ancestry continues to decline
17+ update: Here to warn you that Ancestry is once again REMOVING ACCESS under the guise of "BUG FIXES".
Ancestry continues to increasingly remove their lite service so everything is under an-ever-increasing paywall.
I just love how they call updates “bug fixes” BUT they what they are doing is removing features and functionality. Such a ripoff. You have been warned.
As someone who has previously paid hundreds of dollars to Ancestry for a number of years prior, I find it EXTREMELY hard to justify giving any more money to a company that clearly is increasingly greedy and chooses this avenue over any interest in customer satisfaction.
The fact I can no longer see records which I had once saved and linked after actually PAYING for it -- is ridiculous. Not to mention removing ability to see and compare your information with others.
I guess it's like "ancestry for the streaming crowd". UGH
I’m so glad I never did a DNA test with Ancestry because clearly they are not trustworthy.

10/10 Ancestry is committed to continuing to remove features and functionality unless you pay an INCREASINGLY priced small fortune that adds up. The problem becomes: without some form of a proper lite service offered, how can one continue to hold an account with Ancestry if one must pay hundreds of dollars a year to do anything at all with their account????
Additionally, over the many years of having an account, Ancestry NEVER EVER responded to any of my technical issues, nor appeared to consider any customer feedback over design. This also does not inspire confidence in maintaining an account with Ancestry. The service and offerings continue to be in decline.
PS. I am not interested in ancestry turning into a media site of promotional stories and videos of total strangers. Ancestry.com is not supposed to be a forced instagram feed of every random family. Where is the option to control and opt-out? When will ancestry allow the option to FILTER-OUT certain results (and photos) when I really just want to search for records and not have to wade through other people’s photos and stories?
This is on top of how you cannot view any information—even related information that you previously saved—unless you repeatedly pay an increasing fee.
I honestly think I will end up closing my account.
- I cannot maintain without paying hundreds of dollars
- the service continues to decline
- yet, I can be bombarded by irrelevant video/media stories belonging to strangers. What fun.

Used to be decent
I had this app on my phone for 8 or so years now. Spent tons of time putting together my family tree and researching. You used to be able to access your information without being a premium member. Now it’s all about the money. If you’ve spent anytime on this app putting together your families history in the past, you aren’t going to be able to access it now unless you pay them to access the work you did. Because of that I have removed the app and won’t be coming back. This is more of a heads up for other than anything else. This doesn’t impact my life at all, I’m just annoyed I can’t access my work anymore.

Useless
So Profit driven you minimize the customer experience and took the fun out of the discovery. Can’t get any real results unless you subscribe we paid for the test. That should’ve been our access, but the greed ruined it.
Could be way better
Hints need improvement. Some are clearly the wrong person. I’m receiving photos that I previously submitted. Some trees contain obvious errors. It would help to have some sort of rating based on proven results. I’d like to be able to search my tree in a variety of ways, such as state born in, died in, burial. Make photo enhancement better. It currently is awful. Provide transcripts of documents.

I cant figure out what is happening here. Where are all the easy hints and the shoe box where I have all these docs saved for something I am researching? I thought I was on a generic spoofed site. Sadly, I think you blew up your old software. It is not better. I hate it. Did you announce this change? I think not. I use this app almost daily. I do not have time to figure this out. I may have to cancel my membership which I have had for what, 20 years? Disappointed in you. The user experience is 0 out of 10. I worked at Sun Microsystems so I know how bad this is. Bad idea, folks.

Just rejoined after many years. My new membership incudes fold 3 and newspapers.com. It is definitely not a user friendly start up. I have had the ancestry app on my IPhone for years and none of the saved information comes up on my phone. It does come up on my IPad. It just seems to me when you join and they offer added genealogy sites we shouldn’t have to jump though hoops to be able to use them. Not at all happy with the start up.

Too expensive
At first information was available to everyone. Now they charge for anything. And way too much!
Unable to easily look at member individual’s info
One of the latest updates, made it so when you tap on an individual, in the tree, it pulls up a window for “Add Basic information” and to “Search Records about him” or “Add his immediate family members”. But there is not easy way to just tap on the person to navigate to someone they are connected to. It is very cumbersome, and unusable currently.

It’s awful frustrating to pay to use your site and have a message come up saying yall are having problems,while trying to save an entry. It’s also frustrating that I have to save entries, the same entries over and over again. Once an entry is put into the tree, we should not have to re enter it again. Also I really enjoy the famous ancestor part, but it would be nice to have it placed on our tree, instead of just seeing how we’re related. One other thing is that yall know that we have these people related to us, before we even have it on our tree, most all of my famous ancestors are 1/2 cousins, so that is what I mean by not being on our tree, when it’s mainly parents and their parents and so on. It would be much better if yall would offer us common folks our whole family tree at once, instead of milking us for it. Give us the option to purchase it outright and make it affordable.After all yall give it to the famous people on Finding your Roots!!!!!! Also when entering an ancestor it goes back to the main body of the tree, then we have to hunt the spot where we were, we should be able to stay in the same area, until finished, this is really frustrating having to find the spot where we were!!! Your bugs are not fixed!!!
