Overpriced
You cannot view any information or documents without a monthly subscription. Ancestry charges for hint, clues, any public information the amount of the membership is completely unfair/unjust for a lot of this information is public information and if people do their diligent work, you can get this information that Ancestry is charging a monthly fee for, free! elsewhere, there are other entities that offers DNA testing with the same public information for free after you paid for the testing, as it should be. My ancestors identity , birth rights, names etc. Has been changed several times since the 1800’s making doing this work even more difficult. I don’t mind paying a fee but the cost to view any documents is way too much when it’s public information & other sites give it to you for free like FAMILYSEARCH.ORG is more friendly to our pockets!

This was once an interesting site to explore family links but wow now it’s strictly a cash grab. You can’t view anything without being hit for new subscriptions to pay for. Waste of time now
Great app
The app has improved a lot. It can be a little slow at times and not all the features from the website are available on it but overall it’s a great app and the improvements they have made over the years are great.

Absolutely positively ridiculous you can not do meaningful research due to the nonsensical subscription lock out what was free via the price of the kit, through lines,tree building,dna cousin matches also some people like me who does not have large amounts of money and no credit card what was free via the price of the kit was a big help I got the kit 13 years ago when through lines,tree building dna cousin matches was free via the registered guest subscription to broadly subscription lock everything one can not do meaningful research all I am saying is to restore what was free via the price of the kit 13 years ago please fix this the way it was before the subscription lockout,also the registered guest subscription should never been changed to a subscription this was a poor business practice to allow this to happen change back the registered guest subscription the way it was before,this nonsense continues I will be filling complaints for poor business practices, do better and good day to all.

Can’t find anything
I can’t find the family tree I made, cannot find my DNA records.

The DNA that is shown on my page belongs to my wife. I can’t see my own DNA

All of my information that I worked so hard on has been deleted. I built a family tree and it is now gone and I can't pull up DNA matches or anything.

Less Free Options
When I first got Ancestry, I was able to look at my DNA and how it divided by each parent. Now I have to become a member to see that. It’s stupid how much of a cash-grab this app has become.
App degrading
This app gets worse by the day. The number of ‘spinning wheels’ following a tap has become an absolute pain. Please fix as the web version appears to be on the slide as well. Suspect a cost cutting exercise going on here.
Changing access
Last time I used ancestry I had access to more features and now they are subscriber only ? The break down of genetic history by region by percentage is also totally different and harder to make sense off. Strange.
Lack of adequate filters on searches
I wish there were extra filters to for example do a search for the surname Robinson (and any spelling of ie Robson, Robertson, Roberson etc) for Clay Co Al 1860 census records. To find all of the people with that surname who lived in a specific county or range or township. Also if what was a township or range in 1860 Randolph Co AL that would be the same area that became Clay Co AL in 1866 but appears in the 1870 Clay Co AL census

Recurring charge of 59.99 was never authorized by me. Be very careful what you authorize with this company.
AWESOME
I would definitely recommend getting, whether you know who your family members are or not… my husband never really questioned if his dad was his actual dad, but turns out it actually wasn’t- his mother had an affair, but through ancestry we were able to trace back and figure out who his biological father was!!

Can’t look at anything without paying extra for everything
High Subscription Price
Maybe worth $2/mo but not $20+. It should be free since the government is paying for access to it. It’s like paying twice but once with our tax dollars. Shame!
Tree editing
I’m very happy with the site however I find editing the tree to be difficult and not very user-friendly.
