ONE STAR - after several years of business and 5* reviews on platform
⭐ One star — expensive leads, poor support and account restricted without proper evidence
I had used Bark for several years through one business account. I later changed the email address on that same account to reflect a change in my business branding.
Bark suddenly restricted my account, claiming that I had multiple accounts. I explained clearly that I had only one account and asked them to identify the alleged duplicate. They provided no account details or evidence. Instead, I received a generic message saying the matter had been escalated to another team.
Th happened at a critical time and cost me an important business opportunity. A platform selling business leads should investigate properly before removing a professional’s access.
I have also found Bark leads expensive for the value received. Professionals pay upfront simply to access contact information, but Bark’s own policy says credits are normally not returned when the customer does not respond or hires someone else. Even when a return is approved, the customer receives platform credits rather than their money back. This puts most of the financial risk on the small business purchasing the lead.
Their published information also appears inconsistent. The Help Centre currently says credit-return requests can be made within 14 days, while the formal terms state seven days. Credits can expire, and Bark’s terms allow credit prices to be changed at its discretion.
After years as a customer, I expected a proper explanation, evidence and a prompt resolution—not an unsupported allegation followed by a generic response.
Based on the high cost of leads, limited financial protection and the way my account was handled, I cannot recommend Bark to other small businesses.

1 star- waste of business traders money
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience using Bark.
I spent over £200 on credits, trusting Bark’s advertising that leads would be genuine opportunities. Instead, I’ve found that many leads appear to have already found someone elsewhere before they’re even uploaded to the platform.
On multiple occasions I’ve responded within seconds of receiving a lead. Bark even shows that I was the first professional to respond, yet I still receive messages saying the customer has already found someone. If that’s the case, the lead should never have been sold in the first place.
What makes this even more frustrating is Bark’s credit refund policy. They advertise credit returns, but in reality they’ll often only refund credits if the customer never responds at all. If a customer replies saying they’ve already hired someone before the lead was uploaded, Bark still expects professionals to absorb the cost. That’s not a genuine business opportunity—it’s a wasted credit.
As a small business owner, every pound matters. Paying for leads that were effectively dead before I even had a chance is incredibly disappointing and feels unfair.
Bark needs to review how quickly leads are published and rethink its refund policy. If a customer has already hired someone before professionals have a realistic chance to quote, those credits should be refunded automatically.
Until this issue is addressed, I can’t recommend Bark to other businesses. It has cost me money without providing the fair opportunities I paid for.
Consider these facts before putting your hard earned money into bark

Poor quality leads
We find the leads we pay for are not qualified and when we report this we just get a bad response, we are currently looking for a better platform to reach out to qualified customers as Bark are simply not improving and we are losing so much money in not being able to actually speak to the customers, or they are just not interested, money for old rope, perhaps we should set up our own system at least we would not pass on dead leads.
You asked for a review now you have it, you should listen to complaints and improve your current poor service, we are not the only business who has this problem, as word goes around.

Recent experience not as good
I have been using BARK for about 3 years now and actually it’s really helped me build out a nice book of business.
The reason for the low rating is that recently I feel like the lead quality has gone downhill significantly - and this is from someone who has had success on your platform before.
I have had numerous instances where I number has been showing as being verified by BARK and then when I contact it there is no response to my emails but when I phone the line never gets picked up and just goes dead. I have asked the support team the question (they have previously been really really helpful) about what is classed as a verified phone number and have not been given a proper answer.
It’s a disgrace that numbers are showing as verified but rhen a couple times when I have got in touch with the person they have told me they have no idea what BARK is and aren’t even searching for any services at the moment.
This is worrying proactive as makes me doubt the honesty of the leads being generated as it’s showing as verified but the number doesn’t work or the person has no idea what BARK IS. Now this has only happened a couple of times but it makes me wonder how many times I am contacting someone and not getting a response - I’m then just assuming they don’t want my services but actually the number might not be right or they may have no idea what BARK is. This feels like poor business.
Again, this is from someone who HAS had quite a lot of success with this great platform - but recently it’s not been as good. Don’t rely on this as your main lead source as the leads are incredibly expensive - depending on prices you may need to find yourself needing to convert 3/4 people in order to pay for contacting 10 leads which is a very high close ratio

Too Expensive For The Poor Quality Of Leads
2/5 Stars
Unfortunately, my experience with Bark hasn’t been a positive one.
The biggest issue is the cost of leads compared to the amount of information provided. Many job requests contain only a brief description, making it difficult to determine whether the work is genuinely suitable before paying for the lead.
I also believe clients should be required to include an estimated budget in every job post. This would help professionals decide whether the project is commercially viable before spending money to make contact.
Another frustration is that many people appear to be looking for free quotes or general advice rather than actively hiring someone. As a result, professionals can spend a significant amount on leads with very little return.
Bark has the potential to be a great platform, but it would benefit from stricter job posting requirements, more detailed client information, mandatory budgets, and better filtering to ensure professionals are paying for genuine opportunities rather than speculative enquiries.
