The technology on the Basement Defender has helped us keep track of our system. We are glad we upgraded!
Great idea not well executed
Let me start by stating I am a civil engineer by training and a software developer by experience, 3 decades writing software for embedded systems like this one. As a home automation fan i am quite familiar with general purpose products like Yolink, Resideo, Feit... You get the idea.
I had my experts install a BD unit as a primary monitor. There's no backup or battery. I can't turn off such alerts.
Pump run statistics are not very useful either. Just a graph that includes backup pump run time despite the fact there's no backup.
Connecting to my house WiFi wasn't too difficult (using the yellow wifi box) but documentation is, speaking politely, not very good. Please look up the documentation of your neighbors at Glentronics to see what I mean.
I could accept these issues in a $25 product but not something that's a lot more expensive. I would be more than happy to help by providing specifics if you are interested.

I keep getting high or low humidity or temperature alerts with no ability to set acceptable ranges of humidity or temperature. My $24 Yolink freezer monitor allows both.

Lots of false positives.
Lots of false positives with new system and app. App is stating a leak somewhere and “high humidity.” Basement is bone dry. Sump pump well normally low with water. Not sure why the alerts. Old system worked fine. Installer convinced us we needed an upgrade. So far, thinking we paid for an upgrade that we didn’t really need.

Helpful app w/ great support
The app provides great real time info. The times I have needed assistance with my sump pump I have received great customer service from Basement Defender staff. I’ve been able to reach someone quickly to troubleshoot my issues. They really care about customer satisfaction and product support.

I can’t say enough good about my tech guy Shadi that came out to get the basement defender wifi working with my home network. He was very professional and knows his stuff. He worked diligently to get it up and running without any impact to my teenage gamers on the same network! Great job. Highly recommend!!

Easy to install with Shadi
Just got mine setup. It was very easy with Shadi setting it up from Permaseal. Make sure you have him help if you have issues. He explained everything.
Security
After years of worrying about basement floods, the Basement Defender gives me peace of mind!
Frustrating
While the service has always been good the app doesn’t work. You can’t log in to the app. I’ve tried several times and I just sit and watch it spin and then it errors out because it’s waiting too long

Basement Defender Tech Support was extremely helpful in setting up the app. Xfinity was not able to give us a stronger signal. When I called Basement Defender, a tech man came to our home that day and set up a stronger WiFi signal so the app would work. He accomplished this in 20 minutes. Well done!

App not working - issues resolved.
Downloaded app and didn’t have the option that allowed you to pair your device to the defender system. Spent over 2 hours waiting for help and still no solution. Not feeling good about day one service. The other app also had a “glitch” and app would close when I got to the router step.
Updated review: I was able to get the basement defender technician to sort out the problems with the incorrect alerts. They were very responsive to my concerns. I now enjoy being able to track my sump pumps. I still think the app needs to be compatible with more phones and if not that needs to be disclosed up front. This app does not work the same on iPhone 7 as it does the iPhone 8 even with the same iOS update.

Water coming in through the basement door
Instead of putting a drain threshold on the outside of my basement door Perma seal put it inside when we got severe rain the water leaked under the door and around the drain threshold that was inside the basement Defender alerted me that there was a high amount of humidity in my basement suggesting water might be coming in my basement when I seen this I immediately checked it and stop the water from coming in with sandbags after calling Perma seal and telling them of this problem they relocated the drain threshold to the outside no more problems the BasementDefender made this problem way less of a problem by notifying me through my telephone also if you have any problems the people at BasementDefender are there to help you their IT team rocks!

If the sump pump fails, water in my basement will follow quickly. With basement defender, I can address the issue before a real problem develops.
