Clunky app for a clunky service
Wish I had thought of this scam service years ago cuz I’d be filthy rich. Like everything else these days…we pay for convenience. Instead of recycling cans and bottles, we can get paid to turn them in for the state .10 refund. After all, we do pay the extra .10 when purchasing the product.
So this company comes along with its cute orange and green kiosks and convinces you to use it because it’s convenient. Create an account and you get: Free card! Free stickers! Oh but you gotta buy their bags. 3x the cost of kitchen trash bags only green in color. Fine. Put the stickers exactly where they state on the bag, fill the bag with exactly what they approve of and transport bag(s) to local store where the bags are accepted.
The reality: Bags are often BLANK with no print on them, invalidating the refund of the bag. Drop off centers are filthy and disgusting and you will likely get mugged by druggies wanting your loot. Bag cost rises over time. Refunds not always issued and ZERO accounting and transparency on their part. Break any of the many rules and the bag will not be counted (yet they still get to recycle it for $$)
Oh and the online access and tech are very bad. They always lose my account, can’t tie my account number to my account, etc. what year is this? 2026 and they can’t do the basics with account management. App gets updated now account no longer works. Create new account and map to number on card. Works again. App updates…can’t find account.
App basics: Login, shows account balance, lets you use phone to scan at kiosks for more free stickers yet cannot display the credit-per-sticker on bags you turn in. THEY have that data but all you get is a big summary page showing your balance.
I did an honesty test with these people: I filled 6 bags with the exact amount of empty aluminum cans in each bag. 126 cans. I then turned in two bags and waited for my new balance (which can take them weeks). After making three turn in runs with 2 bags each run, I reviewed my balance at each iteration and the credit they gave me was wildly different. How can they explain that?
Remember: You paid for the tax when buying the product. You pay BottleDrop for their expensive and often low quality bags. You receive at best 1/5th face value of credit had you done this yourself.
Oh and their tech is bad. Really bad. So one star it is.

Would review it a zero if i could. App doesn’t work. I have tried changing my password a dozen times. Abdolute waste of time.
UX/UI design is lacking.
Randomly logs me off the app after a period of time, despite using it on a near weekly basis. Messes with the brightness, making the screen unnecessarily bright, much worse while in a dark room. Doesn’t have “dark-mode.” App is made by people with no sense of UX/UI design. Only positive is that it works when checking balance on my BottleDrop account.

App wont open
had to re-download the app, but it won’t go past the start screen try numerous times to open it, but the app won’t do anything
Can’t get in
It logged me out and I can’t get back in. I can’t access my money or drop off the dozen bags that are in my garage. I’ve reset everything. Fix it!!!! I want my money!

It keeps logging me out. Then says my account doesn’t exist and/or password is incorrect. Even after saving password on phone.

Information not accurate
The information is not accurate for my area. Customer service never responds. No green bags are available within convenient range. I’m going to put all my cans and bottles in my blue recycling bin. This service is not worth the effort.
Good Service - Good App
I think this app is great, Idk why it gets such a low rate. It keeps track of how much you have, it can scan for you when you get the bottle drop service. Overall a well thought out program and a good app to accommodate your can task and needs! 👍👍

Latest update killed login
Can’t even login to my acct after the latest update. Says I don’t have an acct associated when I try to reset either my email. Come on!
So difficulty to manage
The app says you can use Venmo transfer but has no place to click for Venmo. There is little to nothing functioning proper on the app.
App Crashes all the time
App crashes every time I try to search for locations. It didn’t used to do that, so I dunno what happened. It’d be rad if y’all fixed it.
Horrible
You are forced to use the app to initiate Venmo transfers and cannot do it from the website but the submit button is covered by another button and does not allow you the ability to submit.
Disappointed
I got the app for the sole purpose of transferring money to my Venmo, but the button vanished!
They should celebrate two stars
They really ought to change that first star to a poo emoji. Had this fecality on my device for months now and it has never failed to disappoint at a regressively deeper level each and every time. So yeah, I think we’re done here.
Practically useless
This is a nightmare. Constantly expiring your password, IF it evens remembers your password. Acting like you have $1000s in your account. Plus, the scanner at the depot has issues reading your “card” QR code.
