Connection issues
Woke up after having nightglow air purifier in sleep mode to find it has disconnected itself from the internet and no longer wants to reconnect to wifi or Bluetooth, please fix this. Also app UI is super sluggish. (Wifi is working for everything else except loading things on the Breville app)
Just tuya/smart life app
If you already have the Smart Life or Tuya app, save yourself the hassle of creating a new account etc and just use that. It’s literally a rebrand of that.
Works well. Fast and responsive and gives a few extra features like muting buttons and turning lights off for dark rooms. Fonts are a bit wacky but who cares.
App doesn’t play nicely with passwords suggest or password managers.

Will not connect
Brand new Smart Air Viral Protect Max will not connect to wifi or Bluetooth. I have been trying for an hour and it fails every time.
The instruction booklet says to select “auto scan” but that option does not exist in the app.
The booklet then gives directions on how to manually add via “AP mode”. That option also does not exist in the app.
Tried to connect via Bluetooth because the manual says “pairing is quick with no extra prompts”. But it is not quick because it does not show up on any of our devices.
The manual says “refer to the QuickStart guide in the box” but there is no such guide in the box.
Not only does the app/ purifier not work, but the instructions are infuriatingly inaccurate, incomplete and misleading.

Wifi interruption causes loss of automation data
There is a known issue of it (for some bizarre reason) only supporting 2.4ghz wifi, which is easy to work around by temporarily disabling 5ghz when you first connect.
However, worse is that if you have a wifi interruption (eg power outage, or a kid/cat turns it off) then any work you’ve done to set up automation is lost. It seems the only way to get the device back online is to delete and re-add it, and then you need to set up any automation schedules manually again, you can’t replace the old device definition with the new one.
Lots of automation in our house, never seen an issue like this elsewhere, but seems like an easy fix if they care

Frustratingly buggy
I had to turn off my 5ghz router band before the device would connect. (Like someone else said - maybe include specific band instructions from the start.) Did so, tested the use, set up automation, awesome.
Turned 5ghz back on because my tv needs it - and now Home Connect can’t find the device. ‘
WHY??? I don’t have band steering on, the networks have different names and passwords, the phone is on the same network as the device, why is there an issue??
After turning 5ghz off again (not a fix on its own), deleting device and reconnecting again, I can now operate the device through the app - but the ‘scenes’ can’t see the device that I am literally operating through the app, so there’s no automation available.
Useless, buggy, garbage. I only bought the device for the connectivity and automation but I won’t be buying breville again. What a waste of money.
