Essential

Great complement to a simple and effective program. Give it a shot.

Fantastic

My husband has really enjoyed the community side of the app :)

Fantastic fitness app!

Finally a fitness app that feels built for real dad life. Quick workouts, easy tracking, and the timer/logging features make staying on programme effortless!

Awesome and time efficient

I stumbled upon the YouTube channel a while ago and did a few of the follow along videos. Great way to get a workout in especially when you’re strapped for time or space I want to do a work out from home. The coach comes across super nice and mellow and his calm demeanor is super motivating in the follow alongs. I was also astonished at how quickly you can progress. definitely give the free trial a spin if you are into this kind of workout!

It work if you turn up!

I fallowed max on you tube before the app, I use this for strength training for mountain bike racing, the timer and videos are very good but downloading them is the best way to use the videos, it takes about 14 weeks to really notice a change in body shape from average fitness to lean muscle, I was 71kg to 65kg topped out at 450 pushups a week or pumps, but I have hurt my lower back at work again lifting timber so will probably pause for a while, the 20 minute workout rule is super affective, I can workout and cook rice for dinner at the same time no equipment. Everyone has 20 minutes no excuses! Just get it done!

Changed Approach to Fitness

I got this app to support Max Edwards, I used to go by a simple kitchen timer but this app’s timer really helps with even pacing and progress tracking. 100% recommend to anyone serious with improving overall fitness, wellbeing, endurance, and strength.

Subscription fees are too high

The best thing about this training programme is the simplicity and low barrier for entry. Everyone has access to a small floor space, so the excuses for skipping a workout are minimal. Consistency beats complexity 9 times out of 10.

A recurring cost of £11.99 is far too expensive. I would be happy to pay it as a one time payment to support the creator, but it’s a lot of money for what it is. The programme is essentially “do burpees until you can do more of them”, so I’m not sure how a recurring payment is justified as there is no increase in complexity or degree of customisation as you move through the levels, it’s simply more reps.

I don’t mean to come across as too negative as I’m a fan of the creator’s work, it’s just too expensive for what it is.

Great companion app to the busy dad program

Max has done a great job creating a tool for those following his busy dad program. The app makes it easy to plan and document your workouts as well as removing the effort of having to figure out your pacing. Of particular value is the growing library of follow along videos which make this well worth the investment alone.

Respect the creator, but this app is disappointing, buggy, and overpriced for what it offers

I’ve followed Max for a long time. His content has helped a lot of people, and I truly respect the work and motivation he’s shared through the Busy Dad Program. That said, this app — and the way the transition to it has been handled — is disappointing and confusing, both technically and in terms of value.

🧱 Hard Paywall at the Start

Yes, there’s a free trial — but you don’t even get to explore the app first. You’re immediately shown a paywall that requires card details to continue. It’s a “free trial” in name only — you have no idea what you’re signing up for unless you’ve already followed the YouTube channel for a while.

🔑 No Access, Buggy System

I signed up, then couldn’t get back in. Tried resetting my password later — no email came. I never got back into the app properly. Based on my experience, the app is still technically shaky, and that’s not something you expect from a product charging £11.99/month or £99.99/year.

📦 What’s Actually Inside?

From what I can tell — and from what dozens of YouTube comments have confirmed — the app contains around 50 follow-along videos that were previously available for free. It also includes a simple interval timer, which many users rightly point out you can get from any free app store download.

There’s no onboarding, no explanation of how the BDP system works for newcomers, and no demo of what you’re paying for. If you’re not already familiar with “level 1D” or “6-counts vs Navy Seals,” this app throws you in the deep end.

🧾 Value for Money: Just Not There Yet

The app doesn’t add enough new value to justify a recurring subscription. The core offering is:
• Old content that used to be free
• A timer
• No new progression structure or coaching
• No clear updates or road map

If Max had left a few key follow-alongs on YouTube, added a proper demo mode in the app, or created a hybrid model (free tier + premium features), I think most people would have supported it. Instead, it feels rushed and closed off.

🚫 Verdict: 2 out of 5 stars

Max deserves to monetise — but not like this. The app is buggy, closed off, and lacking real value. Many loyal users are paying out of guilt, not because they need or love the product. For £11.99/month, I expected something far more robust, transparent, and user-focused.

Until that changes, I can’t recommend it.

Supporting Max

I got the app solely to support the creator of Busy Dad Training who has been putting out free content for 5 years now. Note that his program is still completely free and this app is just a way to supplement the program if desired. I already track all of my burpee workouts, but still I enjoy entering my workouts in the app as well and seeing the trend graphs. The community feature is cool too.

Great tool for burpee training

I have found this app to be a great asset for me in my burpee and push-up training. The timer is spot on with sets and reps. I agree that this app is simple, effective, and efficient! Highly recommend
