Buggy App - Big let down as a whole

Everything has a paywall now. Most of the courses won’t ever load & I can’t access them. I give up with this app & will move on to other chess learning apps. Bye!

Great content, but the app needs updating

Chessable has a great set of courses and the underlying idea of spaced repetition is awesome. However, the app for iOS works poorly. It is often slow to start or does not start at all, and you have to close the app and then try again again. When you download a course and save it on your device, and then go where there is no Wi-Fi, such as an airplane, often the app will not allow you to access the content. This is true for the trainer as well as videos. Also, there are a lot of features on the web version that have never been incorporated into the app, which is a real shame.

Greedy chess.com takes over Chessable

Update 2: greedy chess.com is putting everything behind a paywall now…first they got rid of Short and Sweets, now, in case you haven’t noticed, they have gotten rid of free course slots we used to be able to get with Rubies. Well, that makes Rubies pretty much useless! Nothing for free at Chessable anymore. Why don’t they save themselves the trouble and just say BUY A PRO SUBSCRIPTION OR YOU GET NOTHING. Seriously, it’s time to switch to Lichess….support Lichess!
Update: they fixed the bug in v2.9.0 with the 2.9.4 update…so I gave the app 2 more stars for that, thank you. But still, bring back Short and Sweets please! I use Chessable everyday. I have a 640 day streak and I’ve bought several courses with videos, but I miss my Short and Sweets!! The new Variation Previews suck. I hate them mostly because I can’t organize them…they just get lumped all together into a Variation Preview. Ugh, hate it…I don’t use them at all. I loved the Short and Sweets to try out new courses and decide if I want to buy the main course. BIG MISTAKE GETTING RID OF SHORT ANS SWEETS! Also…I still prefer the web version of Chessable because… - this app is so limited… the Dashboard does not display my folders, which I like to keep all my courses organized. - this app also makes it so hard to get to my Archived courses…where the heck did they hide that option? All I see on my dashboard are Active courses. - and last, can’t really edit the courses that I create with this app…pretty buggy in that dept still, unfortunately. Old review: On iPad 7th gen, the app is TOTALLY BROKEN after updating to v2.9.0! Sometimes it just freezes at startup on the Chessable logo. If you can get past the logo freeze, going to Review variation displays "Unknown Error! ". The App is completely useless now. 😭😱 I use Chessable every day to study. The platform was great, but worse now that greedy Chess.com purchased it! NO MORE SHORT AND SWEETS!! 😡😡😡 Buggy app just got buggier!

Bad Moves

Playing a computer it is not following rules taught in this app such as a king in check by a protected piece can’t just capture the piece that is putting it in check. It can, I just found out in an actual game.

The app is also a bit glitchy and references letters I cannot see and doesn’t play all demonstrations but does a quiz on them so you have to guess the exact order.

Overall I feel it didn’t improve my chess game but I did learn the names of some tactics so if you’re into that you may like it.
