Disloyal to customers
Update 28-Feb-2026: the developer sent a response saying that he is now going to take into account past purchases. However, it’s been two updates since he sent that to me and everything is still dead and locked behind an expensive subscription. Even though I had already purchased this.
Update 18-Mar-2026: as of the last update, the developer restored functionality to those who had previously purchased the app. I think that was very decent of the developer to make that change. I am uncertain how that will be going forward seeing as how expensive the new subscriptions are, but for now things are back to normal. Thank you.
Response from developer
Hello, you do not need to purchase a subscription, your previous purchase remains valid and a fix has already been prepared and will be released shortly on the App Store to restore full access to your features, if you need any clarification please contact our support chat at https://www.apimac.com
All features now behind expensive subscriptions IAP

Original review:
I bought this app in 2019, but after today’s update all of the previously existing features now seem to be behind either a subscription or expensive IAP. There was no indication of the change in the release notes. What a lousy way to treat customers.

Removed functionality to push users to subscriptions
The developer clams this is a “bug,” and two updates were supposed to “fix” it. They haven’t. In fact, all they did was seemingly make the subscription nag screen even more prominent. As far as I know, there is no way for the “restore purchases” feature to pick up a prior app purchase, as this was not an in-app purchase.
Furthermore, there is a FAQ on the developer’s website about this same exact issue with the Mac version of their app, with the exact same response from the developer about “bugs,” dated from summer 2025. They had over six months to “fix the bugs” before rolling it out to iOS users. Since they did not, I assume this to be purposefully done by a dishonest developer in order to push users to subscriptions, regardless of what they say. If they truly wanted to fix a “bug” in recognizing previous purchases, they could have done it.
Unfortunately, due to the way the App Store works, there is no way to go back to the previous version that worked fine before the developer removed the functionality people paid for.
Response from developer
Hi Jaws, this was a bug in v26 that prevented the app from recognizing prior purchases — it has been fixed in the latest update. No one needs to pay again. If you're still experiencing issues after updating, please visit apimac.com and contact our support team.
All features now behind expensive subscriptions IAP
Update Feb 26: version 26.1 still does not fix previous purchases, despite further supposed fixes. Restore purchase does nothing. Purchase is 2019 is clearly listed in my account. iOS 18.7.2
——
Feb 25 and still no fix for previous purchase after update. No contact from developer.
Edit: still no access to any features, even after an update on 20 Feb that was supposed to fix it.
The app immediately displays the subscription/in-app purchase screen when it opens or when I try to do any action. Restoring purchases does nothing.
Whatever was supposed to be fixed did not change this.
I contacted your chat bot but offered no actual help beyond taking my email address.
