Electric skillets

I just downloaded this app.to check on electric skillets and I had to chat with AI. It told me they never tested electric skillets. REALLY??? That’s all I wanted to know about at this time. Forget this app.

App no longer works

After the latest update, the app no longer works, all I get is an error message “IAP initConnection returned false”. Tried emailing, but all I received was a generic response that didn’t help.

The updated release on 08/20/26 crashes on the app launch splash screen….

Garbage!!

I paid money for this app and it does not list most of the items I need info on. Please don't waste your money on this scam of an app!!!!

Hasn’t worked in months

I’ve been paying for consumer reports for about a decade. I don’t use it all the time. It’s clutch when shopping for appliances or a used car. Now my dad needs hearing aids and his buddy spent $3k on some and they don’t even work, so naturally I go to open the CR app and “something went wrong” atop a white screen is all I get. This has been the case for months. Never seen an app fail like this for this long. I’m starting to wonder if Consumer Reports is failing as an organization. Might be just another case of greedy c suite management bleeding the organization dry.

The website works but not the app

No matter how many times I load and delete the app it tells me that my password is wrong even though the website accepts the password. The app simply does not work.

Get paid commissions

Consumer Reports AI denied that they received commissions until I went into their details and found it and cut pasted it and then their AI admitted it.
Used to play on words. Then kept saying, but that doesn’t affect any of their reviews.
This is the third or fourth time I’ve tried to post a review

Lost all credibility

Popups for Amazon prime deals, why pay for biased content… gross

Upgrade keeps crashing

Keep getting a “something went wrong” message every time I open the app after the last upgrade.

Good, but...

It's great to have the ability to access CR easily and quickly in a store.

However, the filters for most categories I've looked at recently are useless. I don't care about the brand of air conditioner, but I do care about how quiet an air conditioner is and how energy efficient it is. Give us useful filters!

A Mediocre app has gotten worse

I’ve been a subscriber for years. This app used to be somewhat useful in comparing products. Now it is not worth looking at. The website is gotten worse as well but with a little effort some good information can still be gleaned.

Keyboard covers sign in Submit button

Impossible to sign in because the keyboard covers the "Submit" button.

App won’t download

Trying to use but it won’t download off the App Store. 😑😑😑

This app is useless now

Used to be a great app, but now even simple searches yield useless results.

No longer works

Approaching 50 years of subscribing over 3 generations of my family, we have been believers and supporters of Consumer Reports, but as everything in life, all good things end sooner or later.

For the last year no one in my family has been able to sign into CR with either apps or on various devices and different browsers. The web site continually says it is down and to go to the main page. This has been going on for close to two years.

I just downloaded the app on a new device and when opened it simply shows the green screen saying Consumer Reports and provides no login screen.

We understand that this could be an isolated case and our investigations and reverse engineering efforts seem to explain what the unacceptable explanations may be.

Funny that a renewal notice was recently sent. Sorry to say we wont put our family at risk due to some false whims, although we understand that CR needs to protect itself from hackers and misinformation.

Would have been nice to reach 50 years but it’s not worth the risk.

Love CR

After the new update to fix bugs, I now have bugs. Cannot get a full screen or search for topics.

Severely limited

Consumer Reports has a long reputation for rigorous product testing. You won’t find that for most products in the app. Instead, you’ll find an AI chat bot and a bunch of generic number ratings with no explanations. Save your money and append “Reddit” to your searches.

iPad compatibility

Unable to open in iPad. Deleted and reloaded app-no success. App only opens with promo, and no further.

Menu Problem

When scrolling the “All Products A-Z” menu on my newer iPhone 16e if it’s done quickly or when nearing the bottom of the list, the list starts jumping around and getting scrambled. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and re-starting my phone. I think it’s version 5.10.

Not trust worthy

I find often common high-end products are missing from their test. I purchased a Wi-Fi thermostat that they rated the top and replaced my 10-year-old Honeywell and found my Honeywell much more user-friendly and did not agree with the CR highest review rating on the Ecobee thermostat rating. I do not trust consumer report anymore.
