Font Size is unreadable
They have used fonts on the screen for the main navigation functions that are so small they are unreadable. Also they don’t honour the IOS font size. Make the app a completely frustrating experience.
Complaint
Discovery Bank has been the absolute worst bank I have dealt with, hence the withdrawal. Your website is user UNFRIENDLY. I made a first application to withdraw from the 32 day account on 3 December 2025 and again in January and again 32 days ago. I have been given wrong information by employees and consistently been unable to withdraw despite following protocol. Discovery even wanted to penalise me by almost R2,000, despite me having never requested an early withdrawal. I will not recommend you to anyone.
Over the 4 months of trying to close my account, I spoke to 3 of your staff members and, had they given me the correct steps to follow, the account would have been closed after the first 32 days. The 3rd consultant walked me through using the Discovery app. The app worked well - this lady was very helpful and told me that we had to use the app to close the account. Why didn’t the other consultants? The app is not the problem. Your consultants are not being trained properly.

Best of the best!
This is one of the best online banking systems there is! I moved from another bank two years ago and have never looked back. Top notch call centre as well. I just wish there were better ways of depositing cash because R3000 deposit limit at a grocery store (at R20 a turn) is a bit annoying when you need to make large cash deposits. Overall. I adore this bank!

I had to wait for 5 days for my fixed saving to be released to my account.
That has really inconvenienced me a lot. And I feel it’s a total disrespect to disregard the terms and date agreed upon. Not cool at all
App doesn’t work, complaints emails doesn’t work. What am I doing with Discovery.
I have been with discovery for a while, but the app is really having issues at this point. And when you send an email to complaints, you get a very nice email saying they only deal with current complaints.

Discovery Bank has been a breathe of fresh air for us. They are responsive to our needs and responsible with our money. We use a number of their products which helps
Security feature on fixed account
I have noticed that when a fixed amount is set, and you decide to withdraw it before the scheduled time, Discovery does not verify whether the withdrawal is being made under distress,for example, if someone is being forced to withdraw money while held at gunpoint. It also appears that multiple early withdrawal requests can be made within the same month, and each request is simply approved without additional validation.

You offer all these benefits of discovery banking provided you have the full suite of products, yet you continue to decline a credit card application for me. I have applied over 3 or 4 times. I have no judgements, never had a returned debit order on any of my accounts and I have been with discovery for over 20 years, and in all my applications I asked verbally for a facility of R1000 only. This is to allow me to access full benefits. Yet you keep declining on affordability. I even offered a fixed deposit as security for the R1000 facility. Since you keep declining I have moved my car insurance away from you.

Great app, great bank
I've been work Discovery Bank for 5 years now after moving from FNB. Regarding the app- it works well and offers great insights. It's easy to navigate, and intuitive to use. I've not personally experienced issues like down time in that period, and the security is top notch.
Regarding the bank- I moved over because FNB's Bucks became a slog to understand and earn. I was already in the Vitality ecosystem, so this was a natural fit. It has been rewarding from the start, and easily fits into life with minimal nonsensical tick boxes to earn your rewards.

I dont want to lie so this bank treets me very well
User Friendly and Integrated Functionality.
Been using the app for quite some time. Enjoy the regular updates and improvements to the app and how it integrates with all the other apps on my phone. It also has a lot of answers to the question ons might have and can take you straight to the website if necessary.
The in app functionality helps enormously when one does not have cell phone tower signal and needs to call a consultant for assistance.

The discovery suite of apps are confusing and complicated.
Starting with login, it doesnt autofill passwords and my Face ID doesn’t work like it should. It’s also slow partly because the app has an in-app updating thing.
I struggle to set up a budget, because I haven’t used the bank so it fails with R0 and asks for a subcategory budget.
The notifications aren’t easy to clear in bulk and can’t unsubscribe from. I heard people just leave them unread.
The interplay between the Discovery app, discovery health and discovery bank is confusing and the slow authentication causes friction.

Best bank, fees, service and benefits.
I’ve tried capitec, fnb and nedbank. Discovery is UNMATCHED with their fees, service and benefits. Their customer service team is like having a private consultant on hand whenever needed. The wait time I’ve experienced on their customer care line has always been under 3 minutes.
Many of my family members have also moved over to Discovery. To those who says it’s not a good option because there are no ATMs, you’re able to withdraw and deposit at any major store like picknpay, checkers etc
