Great app
Love the app. It keeps all the functionality of a smartphone while both reduces the addictive hijacking that comes from just opening your phone and adding just right amount of friction to accessing the full power of the phone. It’s been a great experience. 10/10 recommendation.

Force you behind a paywall after I guess a week? I mean I would rather them have just said it more clearly up front before making all these changes. Don’t recommend unless you plan on paying.

Great choice to reduce screen time
I’ve only had this app for about a week and I’ve already had a decrease in my screen time by 34% compared to the previous week. I like how there’s a detox option. When you want to turn off the detox option, there’s a few steps to where you might decide you actually don’t want to turn it back on. In the past I’ve deleted social media apps, but I like to still have the option to stay up to date on local events. Def recommend

This app is life changing!
This app is great, super customisable! The support for adding apps is great too! According to screen time I’m using my phone half as much since installing and setting up! Strongly recommended if you’re looking to simplify life!
Fantastic app
Out of all the minimalist phone apps available (I tried them all), this one stands out. I love that I can integrate widgets directly into my wallpaper to preserve my personal style. Great work 👏
In theory…
I paid the $10 for the year because I felt the opportunity to remove distractions was worth a try. Unfortunately, iPhone doesn’t allow you to hide the App Library from your screen, so getting to an app you don’t want in your face all day is still just one swipe away. In theory, the list (rather than app icons) would limit distractions, but one swipe, and OPE there’s all my apps.

Great app
Love this app! I’ve been using the paid version for almost 2 years now, and it’s well worth the small fee. Seeing the home screens on other people’s phones now stresses me out because I’ve gotten so used to my minimal screen. I go back and forth between using the app limits depending on how I’m feeling. It’s definitely improved my phone experience overall, and I have recommended to many a friend!

Don’t pay for the Subscription
Truly a waste of time, do not buy this paid app that is just a widget. Set up your focus time on your phone for free. I made the mistake of paying $25 and I highly doubt they will give a refund. They give you a free trial, but I thought the app was just free. I paid $25 looking for a more intuitive, seamless “dumb phone” but it was the same, widget, buggy launcher that I had. Don’t make my mistake, and give me a refund.

Worth It
I tried other free alternative launchers, but their configuration was more vague and complicated than dp, and their apps were less feature-rich overall. I especially appreciate the breadth of preconfigured shortcuts, custom launchers and Focus Filters, and detailed setup instructions included in dp. As someone with ADHD, the less friction there is with initial setup, the more likely I am to actually stick to a plan. I purchased a lifetime license because I think dp is worth it for helping me reach my goals for using my phone less.

Dumb phone, not the dumbest app
I got dumb phone as a free alternative to the blank app. I already had some measures in order to stop consuming as much short form content on my phone. Actually, by the time I downloaded dumb phone I did not need apps like TikTok or instagram anymore. This app was more of a means to make my phone less convenient in order to further lessen screen time. Overall, it wasn’t the most effective as it is very easy to overcome its limits if you get incredibly desperate, but its overall not bad, especially for someone who’s already less dependent on the dopamine of short form content. Overall, however, something that I’d recommend much more is something like PushBlock. It’s another free app with a similar but also different usage and structure. On this app, you get to choose different apps that you can restrict almost completely, and the only way to overcome this is, you guessed it, doing pushups. As a lazy bum who’s also trying to get better at body weight exercises like pushups, this has been a very good way of both discouraging myself and getting to do more exercise at more times throughout the day.

I was giving it a try but noticed it wouldn’t let me add my own company’s Break Diving app. If it won’t let me access my own company app, doesn’t make sense.
Life is Better Minimal
I’ve been using Dumb Phone for 6-8 months. DP has significantly reduced my screen time. Due to the simplistic black and white setup, my phone still looks good, but I’m no longer manipulated by all of the colorful apps that need to be “checked on” constantly. I’m also on social media apps far less. The developer/ owner is very responsive if you have a request. Best money spent. This is a no brainer if you want more actual productivity.

This is nothing more than a widget that gives you plain text shortcuts to apps you choose.
You still get notifications of all the other apps on your phone.
The basic UI of the iPhone is not hidden. Everything still works. This is not as described.

Disappointed:(
I absolutely loved it at first, I customised my phone screen nicely but somewhere along the line every time I’d click on an app that was added to the widget a pop up came up instead saying “buy the full version” I then had to flick away the pop up and reload the app just to get into safari!
I’m disappointed as this app preached how it’s here to help the serious problem of screen time but it causes people who don’t pay their subscription quite a lot of annoyance :(

It automatically begins after opening Dumb Phone the first time, so the prompt you saw is just the trial ending. Scam- get an actual Dumb phone
Does not work as pictured. You cannot get rid of all your apps on the screen. Just gives you an additional black square with apps you have selected. Does not change functionality.
This app cuts down on my phone’s distractibility
This app makes my Home Screen so much less distracting and my interactions with my phone much more intentional. Instead of opening my phone and getting sidetracked by notifications, banners, or whatever app catches my eye, I actually go to the app I intended to use in the first place.
It’s such a simple change, but it’s made a noticeable difference in how I use my phone. The developer is also incredibly responsive, which is a huge plus!
