Great Daily Check In

I use this app to record my physical exercises every day. I keep critical information here, from weightlifting to walking.

Flawed rankings and bioage results

The system does NOT recognise and does NOT flag-up obvious mistakes when members are intentionally or mistakenly logging the exact workout multiple times or enters an absurd number of hours for an activity e.g. I saw someone accidentally log 87 hours for strength training on top of other activities on a particular day. The fact the system doesn’t even recognise there’s only 24 hours in a day is very telling…

Also the exact same workout being logged multiple times skewers your bioage and your actual health status making it SEEM your healthier than you actually are which is dangerous.

This app is totally flawed if you’re just relying on the app alone to correctly calculate accurate results based on inaccurate entries. This app ONLY works if you take the time to check YOUR entries are honest and correct. Having a flawed bioage is not helpful to anyone really and especially if you have a possible underlying issue in the background creeping up on you unknowingly because you think you’re super fit due to a flawed bioage and flawed rankings.

No Functionality

My old YMCA app let me scan into the gym and schedule classes. This app doesn’t do that, it’s completely useless to me. It doesn’t even show my local Y or any of the schedules.

Gute Möglichkeit sich zu motivieren

Auswertungen sind sehr übersichtlich und gut erläutert ✅ Alles was man braucht um sich zu motivieren und auch Fortgeschrittene zu machen

barely there

update- a year later… still doesn’t talk to apple health correctly. forces manual entry every time, which defeats the purpose of the app. zero customer support in app. 🤷‍♂️

let me say that Ilove EGYM... the machines, anyway. It’s a really great system, and it’s designed to be something that you can do consistently and track very well. Unfortunately, the app is by far the weakest point.
top of the list – it doesn’t sync with Apple health. or, I should say, it tries and fails consistently. Data will show up in Apple health, but it doesn’t register as a work out. If frequently shows the time of the workout at zero seconds, and so Apple health does not count it. considering that it advertises that it syncs with Apple health, and that thousands of other apps, do it without problems, I think this is kind of a huge oversight.
and before anyone asks, I’m definitely a power apple user and have tried every permutation of uninstall, reinstall, OS update, restarts, etc.. NO DICE. thank you for playing.
The apps user interface is a bit antiquated and is lacking a ton of information that the EGYM is definitely capturing during workouts.
Also, the UI/UX is a mess. Open the app. See your latest activity? Tap on it. Do you know what happens? Absolutely nothing. you have to “view all“ which brings you up to another page that shows exactly the same display, and then when you tap on it, and only then, does it display what you wanted to see in the first place. Not great.
The other activities that you do in Apple health? This app pulls them in just fine. They even look great, with icons and such. The workouts you do in EGYM? Bare bones feedback. Furthermore, after you’re forced to manually enter your strength workout in Apple health so that you can get credit for it, the app will pull that in and display them both side-by-side, thereby double counting those workouts. The good news, I suppose, is that you get exercise points for both, so if you wanna shoot to the top of the charts, here’s the hack. LOL.
if you go to your workout through the workouts page as described above, you will see a sync icon and it will tell you that your workout summary will be ready as soon as all the machines sinc, and it could take minutes or hours. But then you look below and they’re all synced. if you go to exactly the same workout page through the activity tab, there’s no message and it displays just fine. This is a glaring indication of programming issues within the app itself.
The display of the actual workout data is bare bones and text-based, definitely not a great user experience. sadly, there also isn’t any sort of progress indicators where you can see your progress as you continue with a training program. no indication of the type of workout (there are 4), your progression thru the circuit(s), no goals to hit, no data visualizations whatsoever. ergo, no actionable intelligence or motivation. the “activity points” thing is an attempt at gamification of your workouts- okay, fine- but wouldn’t you rather see things like your progression of weights or reps, the timing thereof, suggestions on what could be improved or adjusted, etc? the machines are tracking every rep (and adjusting in real time) but we can’t see that. want to go to failure and see where that happens? nope. so much data collected- and barely any available to the user.
fwiw- every fitness app on the market shows dataviz… except this one.
BOTTOM LINE- the EGYM idea is great and the physical system is excellent. I’m certain it costs a good amount also. unfortunately, the company didn’t feel like they needed to spend any time or energy on their app, so basically this is 2025 physical equipment operating at a 2005 technical/user level. it’s kind of mind-boggling – the interface is on the actual gym equipment are very well done.
And it’s inexcusable – in this day and age, writing an app of such shallow complexity as this requires is incredibly easy.
as a systems purchaser, I would be very skeptical of a system that appears to be so well-made, but doesn’t put any time or money into the quantitative interface that is literally the linchpin of health and fitness right now.
Here’s hoping they’ll hire some young fun and knock out a decent app in a day or so to replace this one. Pretty please, EGYM. your system rocks. fix the interface. thank you! (and please forgive any Siri word salad)
