The website told me to download this app. Thinking it would give me more convenient way of managing my account, I downloaded it. But turns out it’s just an Authenticator to log onto the website (ps, which is also absolutely awful).

Mandated custom MFA
I use a lot of websites that require me to set up MFA, all of which use industry standard mechanisms meaning I just set up an OTP in my chosen password manager. Now I’m forced to use an app on my phone that requires me to scan a QR code but I can’t scan a QR code in my phone browser using the custom app on my phone.

The most brittle security app I’ve ever seen
Trying to register a new device when you still have access to the old device is pretty much impossible. It’s junk
Really stupid
Since they introduced this Authenticator I have been repeatedly locked out of Equateplus and it asks me to scan some QR code and I have no idea which QR code.
Unnecessary and painful
There are many successful and industry recognised Authenticator apps, including Free and Open Source ones. I want to consolidate my 2FA to one Auth app only. I do NOT want to be coerced into "downloading" a dedicated Authenticator per every single service or login I'm using!? Especially a poorly coded one like this, without backup in case of lost or stolen phone (when on public transport in diversity London etc.)!

The absolute worst
I’m not exaggerating - Every time I try to log in Computershare using this nightmare of an app, there is always an error. The. I call into customer service. They’ll make you install, delete, reinstall the app for 6 times until it works. Every. Single. Time. Whoever built this app should be embarrassed.

Fix your app!!!
Something went wrong please try again… try again???? It literally just scans a QR code!!!! How difficult can it be????? Why don’t you fix your app so that it works as intended?!?!??

This is the most useless app i’ve seen. Giving me a qr code and asking me to scan it with the same device. Who approved this.

So I need to scan a QR code. Ah where is the so called QR code? On my laptop or desktop. You’ve taken the “mobile” out of apps! This is useless. Feels like I should be using dial up Internet along side of it.

I do not want or need another MFA app especially one from Equate, how this app could be available for so long but still being pushed on your users with 1 star shows how hostile Equate is to their own customers
What Is The Point?
What is the point of this app…?!?!? I’ve been using the actual Equate app for years with no problems - now, with this app = suddenly there are problems…?!?!?!?
Access
It's so frustrating to start using this app. After pointing to the QR code, it processed, accepted my face recognition, and says it was successful. After that, there is a green bar that populated to continue but when I pressed it, it asked me again to enter the QR code and was asked to do the same process over and over again. I stopped continuing and deleted the app.

Fist install, first usage, app shows an error.
Who tested this? Is this what you do with the abusive fees you charge us? Horrible and useless app. There is a billion Authenticator app out there. Do you really need to develop your own?
Why?
Surely either make the main app secure or use a common Authenticator?

This is by far the worse app, I don’t understand this company and honestly wouldn’t have deal with this is it wasn’t my work uses them. Ugh

Come on, give me a break, this app and process is so dreadful! I want to get to MY data and this double app just doesn't work. Also, what on earth is the point when after 30 seconds of getting nowhere, the equate plus's login offers alternative methods including receiving an SMS code, why not just offer that in the first place! PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, READ THESE REVIEWS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
