Exactly what I needed

My laptop was out of juice, I needed access to my latest draft ASAP, I downloaded this and it effortlessly connected to my Dropbox account and I was reviewing my latest draft in under a minute. Perfect.

DO NOT USE

You will lose hours of your work as this app doesn’t save properly. You’re better off using the notes section on your phone.

Very disappointing as the desktop version is a nice alternative to final draft. However this experience has me questioning using any of their products now.

Very poor quality

App simply doesn’t work and crashes a lot. The desktop version is top notch, this version is dreadful in comparison. Interesting that it hasn’t been updated in 2 years, guess it’s abandonware.

Useless

Downloaded and started typing, but the app wouldn’t respond. Tried scene heading, dialogue…etc…nothing. Tried downloading the app again, but still wouldn't respond. Avoid at all costs. Even though it cost nothing.

Fade In Basic

Permet de voir mon scénario sur mon cell. Parfait pour le consulter n'importe où, rapidement.

Pain to work with

Unreliable auto-save with no manual option. Had to re-write multiple entire scenes. Also no convenient export options.

Doesn't work

I'm on Iphone 14 plus. I tried to type, it doesn't do anything. If you try to change the settings it freezes the app. The only time it works is if I edit the template screenplay. Even then, the shortcuts like Scene heading, Dialogue etc don't work and/or automatically change like it does on a desktop. I can't understand how this app even passed qc (assuming there's even a qc) before putting on the platform?

Won’t import its own desktop file

Useless! When trying to import my saved file from the desktop app I just get ‘unable to import’. Surely this is the most basic function.

Perfect

Great for writing screenplays for theatre and cinema. No complaints!

Deletes work

I really enjoy the desktop version and was excited using the mobile version for on the go. However, after using it for some days the app will crash and delete majority of my work. Then there’s the interface that starts to warp itself when you have a long script. In addition to using it with a wireless mechanical keyboard, it doesn’t allow you to use some shortcuts like deleting all whole word. Really wish they would update the app and make it more easier to toggle through the action, scene, transition, etc instead of having to press it with your fingers.

It used to be a great (and free) app

I've been using it for a year or two now. Before, the only 'annoying' thing was a reminder that this is a free version, but can't complain about that. In the past three months, the text keeps getting highlighted at random, so the undo button became my writing assistant.
But the dealbreaker for me is changes not saving. Sometimes at least I got a 'can't save' pop up, so I could paste a new version to another writing software. Other times I just lost the progress, and it's nowhere to be found in the backup.

Almost unusable.

I don’t understand why you would release an app that is almost entirely unusable. I have heard good things about Fade-in desktop. I usually use Highland 2 but there is no iPadOS app for that so decided to try this. On first glance it looked promising… until you actually start to type something.

I have a pretty recent iPad Pro and no other apps behave like this. When you type, the lag is so great that I sometimes type an entire sentence and then wait before it catches up to display is slowly on the screen. Then when I am not even touching it the screen display jumps randomly to different parts of the document.

Baffled.

Complete Contrast to Desktop App

The desktop version of Fade In has changed my life! I am so grateful to have the app that I literally work with on a daily basis and helps me survive as an artist. So thank you for that (praise). I think the mobile version of FadeIn needs to be completely revamped. I hope this review motivates the FadeIn crew and does not demoralize them. I truly am rooting for you guys! Looking forward to giving you 5 stars and even more praise in the future. May the force be with you all!

Update?

Is there a new update coming soon? Cuz I think the app needs a new bug fixing or something since it keeps crashing and sending me back to the app menu on my phone.

I’m not sure if it’ll still continuing doing that, but I’ll try again tomorrow to see.

No Exporting PDF’s

This is a waste of time! I can’t imagine a Writer wanting to type only! Even for a classroom scenario, you would want to eventually show your work!

Don’t even nearly work

Text doesn’t show up when you write. Tried everything and just stuck with a blank page unless you edit the sample script. Don’t bother.

Absolute crap

Fadein on my laptop is fantastic.

Fadein for iOS. Garbage. Absolute garbage. Absolute, utter garbage.

Very frustrating in its current state

Sometimes when I close a script, then open it back up a few hours later, an entire random section my writing will have just disappeared. It can range from two sentences of dialogue, to a twenty sentence action scene, which is very annoying. I also don’t understand why you can’t copy and paste text. If I could write on Google Docs, then paste it to this app in order to format the script, I could live with that, but I can’t. I don’t know if that’s by design, or if it’s a bug. I understand this is the free version, but I really don’t think not getting my work deleted and being able to copy and paste is too much to ask for.

I must be lucky then

I’ve had no problems with this free screenwriter app. If anything it’s taught me how to write a script in common format. And that’s just from getting the hang of what it has to offer. I can now write a script freehand because I know how it looks and what is expected of me as a writer (if that makes sense) HOWEVER when I first used it, I did go back to my script to find some word have been changed to random symbols for example, She was very happy to be chosen BECAME She was £:.& hap:& to be chosen. But that has not happened since I re downloaded it and I have written much more than the last time I used the app so maybe the newest update was a major fix. Basically so far so good. Worth a go EVEN the tutorial is very useful and funny to read

Absolutely does not work

It just doesn’t work. Files compatibility was fine for me, but I literally couldn’t write anything. Kept bugging out. Don’t waste your time. It’s a shame there’s no perfect screenwriting option for iPad yet, but I guess it’ll happen one day??
