lots of features, but not all of them make sense for the app

this app has a lot of features, but the sheer number of poorly calibrated ones makes the whole experience feel very cluttered. starting with the social feature: there’s nothing wrong with having a social component, but when you can’t curate your feed, like prevent recommended content from appearing, it ends up becoming a place full of strangers posting provocative pictures that you simply don’t want to see. it’s actually embarrassing to see how this feature is being used and how disappointing it makes the overall experience with the app.

secondly, there’s an excessive use of AI throughout the app, which makes it feel extremely inauthentic and uncreative. this is apparent in things like the AI generated icons, which could easily have been replaced with emojis, as well as Fitia Coach, which is only useful for giving generic analyses and becomes quite inaccurate when faced with more specific questions. other apps rely on curation to build their recommendations or even on an active community, while Fitia seems to rely almost entirely on an AI that is quite inefficient. i’m not against the idea of having the chat feature, but when it’s given such a prominent place in the app’s navigation bar, i’d expect it to work much better than it currently does. at the very least, users should be able to disable it altogether if they don’t find it useful.

thirdly, the app’s food database is extremely limited. this is another area where the excessive use of AI becomes a problem, because instead of focusing on expanding its database with real products from real brands, accurate nutritional information, and actual pictures of their packaging, the app prefers to have you “generate” an ingredient rather than letting you search for it first or manually add an existing food to contribute to the database.

there are also several simple features that don’t depend on AI and would be much more valuable in a food tracker that are either missing or insufficient, especially considering how much easier they would be to implement. things like the ability to manually create a meal plan, support for more languages, a section with curated tips and recommended recipes, Apple Health integration for the water tracker, etc.

honestly, this app seemed really promising when i first saw its interface, but in practice, it’s a completely different story. it’s quite disappointing to see how much AI has been implemented throughout the app and how the supposed convenience it could provide has instead made the app feel inaccurate and, at times, unusable.

Not paying money

All it does is give you meal plans and it uses AI to do it.
No

It deleted your progress. Estimates inaccurate

I tried the app for 3 days. The picture taking idea is good but it never estimated correctly. It confused chicken with fish and it always needed input to improve the entry. Even when info was entered it missed the portion sizes. And to add insult to injury on day 3 when I was done inputting my diary it deleted all the information. The app is not there yet. Don’t pay for this.

Pretty good but some bugs

App works great most of the time. The favorites list stopped working however and gives an error code every time I try to use it or add something as a favorite item.
Being able to add custom meals or make a new entry with the picture and nutrition facts is great though.

Great app, but a major issue with saved meals

I’ve enjoyed using Fitia for quite some time, and some features, like barcode scanning and meal photo recognition, work well. Unfortunately, all of my saved and repeating meals have disappeared, so I can’t access any of the foods I previously logged. Since I’m paying for Premium, I expected these core features to work reliably.

Greedy monetization & basic tracking flaws

Extremely disappointing. I bought a full annual plan expecting complete access to meal planning. Yet, despite paying a premium subscription, the app now demands extra "Coins" to generate meal plans. Why pay annually if features are locked behind microtransactions? Additionally, the body tracking is poorly designed: you can only enter one measurement for arms, forearms, thighs, and calves—as if we didn't have left and right sides! Greedy monetization and bad UX. 1 star
