Fundamentally broken
My unit is putting out max heat despite the fact that the room temp (as measured by the puck) is 11 degrees F above the set point. If I lower the temp any further it asks if I just want to turn it off.
During hot days the downstairs unit runs when it’s 10° F below the set point, so it’s broken in both directions.
Someone doesn’t understand how a thermostat is supposed to work. Pretty sure it’s not me.

I wish I could leave 10 negative reviews
Confusing, horribly designed, doesn’t let you schedule changes in mode, doesn’t let you do most of what a mini split remote does, doesn’t keep anywhere close to the temperature you tell it to 80% of the time, and occasionally just makes random decisions that have nothing to do with your schedule or settings. Something that I regret buying and think about hurling into the trash at least once a day.

Solid overall experience
Edit: they fixed the location permission issue fairly quickly which I very much appreciate. Back to being a happy flair customer again! Been a Flair user for years and have generally had a great experience with it. Just wish the app had more features, but the fact that you can get an API key and DIY your own UI is pretty great.

Annoying app
Device works great with the exception of constantly wants location turned on. Personally only have location turned on while accessing app but wants to know location at all times and prompts so every time app is opened. I do not , nor does device support , geo location for operation.
This app FORCES you to Always share your location
A recent update has effectively forced me to always share my location. My preferred setting is set to “only when using app”. After a recent update I now see a warning window when using the app saying “location services are turned off”. When I try to dismiss the window it immediately reappears - effectively forcing me to “always share my location” in order to use the app. Unacceptable!

Vent open state
I can no longer view the historical percent open of the vents via the app. This used to work properly but seems to have been lost with an app update.

Downstairs, I got it. Temp near the unit was good, the rest of the room was too cold, so I had to change the control to use the puck, not the unit sensor. But how is it not hotter by the heater than the puck?

Buyer Beware: You Won’t Have Full Control of Your Own System
An update a few months ago introduced the need for an “installer code” in order to edit certain features and functionalities. This has made me reconsider moving on to a different product entirely as I feel I don’t have full control of my own system anymore. For example, I should not have to contact the HVAC company that installed my mini-splits to help me update my secondary heating source to activate when it’s 40° out as opposed to 42°. I set this up myself before the functionality was rolled out, and now I’m stuck unless I want to spend $200+ for a service call. It now feels like I’m just renting a modem from Comcast that I can’t fully control, and am now considering just buying my own.

Doubled my setup time because it lost connection to the APIr?
Had the Puck setup; but the app lost connection “to the API,” so it’s redoing everything while the mini split is super cooling my bedroom. After much frustration (and further refrigeration of my bedroom), I got it set up. Nothing is intuitive about this.
The UI is just weird. Setting times for the schedule is just so bizarre. There’s no way to set a “heat to” temp and a “cool to” temp, you have to trust the app to switch at whatever temps it chooses or do so manually. It really makes me miss my central HVAC with the Honeywell smart thermostat.
My unit is putting out max heat despite the fact that the room temp (as measured by the puck) is 7 degrees above the set point. I just keep lowering the set point until it finally stops. I’ll probably end up freezing as the season progresses—or that’s just the way these things work.

Integration not Seemless
Needed vents we could control from phon. I put pucks in every room that has
A smart vent. Everything has batteries that have been replaced. But some rooms simply don’t respond when you wanna open the vent. Other rooms where you don’t wanna open the vent respond. And the integration with either ecobee or nest as I have tried both isn’t intuitive. Would love to see support to make it work as imagined for now with regrets. It’s a one star.

Very Satisfied
Wife and I live in what I call a two story house. It’s a house with a furnished walkout basement or as I call it; the first floor. Anyway, the house has central air. The HVAC system is on the 1st floor and the thermostat is on the second floor. 1st floor was at times 5 degrees cooler than the second floor. I’m still dialing it in, but Since installing the Flair smart vents it’s much more comfortable. System is working great so far. We’ll have to see when winter arrives and the heater kicks on.
I connected the Flair pucks via the Flair bridge to ensure stable connectivity. Most AC guys are not familiar with them and there was no Flair pro near me so I installed them myself. Easy installation if you can climb a ladder, know how to turn a screw driver and understand pairing a device…just follow the instructions.
Note: I only installed the vents on the 1st floor. Have to decide if we are going add pucks and vents to second floor plus upgrade the Honeywell thermostat so it can pair with the pucks

Not worth the money
I find the system is unreliable as far as keeping the house balanced and I had to resort to manual adjustment. But specific to the app. The layout could use a lot of work, and I wish there were more user control. Specifically being able to set some vents to automatic and some to manual.
Desperately needs a dark mode
Very happy with actual vents. The app has lots to be desired through. The theme of the app is so basic with most pages being mainly white. It is very hard on the eyes when trying to adjust it at night on a dark room.
Integration aspects
Hello, my flare units were very easy to install and went into the existing air duct outlets seamlessly. The one area where I’ve had a challenge is allowing the flare system to automatically control my nest thermostat. I ended up, switching over to allowing the nest and its schedule to determine when it comes on and off based on the nest sensors that are placed throughout the house. When I tried to use the flare sensors to control when the thermostat came on and off that seemed to be very inconsistent.

I love this!
Flair is great and does exactly what I want, help control the temp in my room the exact way I want it!!
Couple of suggestions: 1) decrease app refresh time or at least appear to ;). It is integrated with my ecobee but I have a pick the room so I’d like to see faster changes and response times with the app and vent control. 2) allow the user to select a default for when the ac/heat is off. The vent auto closes but we have ecobee set to cycle the fan periodically and I’d like the choice to have it open without having to switch to manual and then remember to switch back. I have a roommate that doesn’t have the flair vent and I need the system to work around that.

Doesn’t use my Honeywell T10 thermostats priority schedule! Doesn’t show which vents are closed!
My thermostat controls the temperature. Flair is supposed to follow its schedule. The schedule is set for priority rooms using Honeywell remote temperature sensors. Flair won’t follow the priority I set. Flair will only open and close vents based on the motion sensors even though I have the motion sensing feature turned off. This defeats the purpose. I don’t need to heat my second floor bedrooms because my dog set off the motion sensors in each bedroom as he walks around, while my entire family is on the first floors. Instead, Flair should follow my daytime priority schedule, which are my first floor rooms.

Hard to keep set up
Hard to set up. The vents don’t open and close right. The app doesn’t wanna work with you. It’s very hard to figure out. Not user-friendly at all.
No connection, no help
Poor customer service
Poor implementation
The idea of being able to open and close vents in rooms that have outlier temperatures is good. However, Flair’s implementation needs some serious work. I have my smart vents connected to Ecobee smart sensors. It takes the Flair system over 5 minutes every time to update its temperature after the Ecobee updates temperature (which itself is only done once every 5 minutes or so). Basically if you need Flair to be responsive to temperature changes, you’ll be frustrated.
