Difficulty with app navigation

Hello,

Thanks for the opportunity to hear my thoughts. I love FNCU, but hate the way that the app and its functionality is so limited and generic. When I go to look at documents/statements using the hamburger menu and open monthly notices, I can’t get back to my accounts page.
My current work around to accomplish this is to log out of the app, then log back in. Please look through the app as a user and you too will discover many other tasks equally frustrating.
The app has improved very little over time, and a huge improvement was labeling the numerical accounts with the actual account name…ie (savings, checking, visa credit card, equity loan, etc.). There is much more that can be improved to make it more user friendly and easier to navigate. Thank You!

There’s very limited things to do with this app. It doesn’t even have a Venmo/Zelle option. Their cards don’t support the tap and go function. It’s too basic for this day in age. Get with the 21st century.

Archaic and rarely updated

This app is straight out of 2007, and FNCU seems to have zero interest in updating it (as I write this review, the last time the app was updated was 9 months ago). Credit card access is poorly integrated - if I click my balance, I get no information unless I find a side menu then find my card. The app also gives incredibly generic feedback when there are errors. For example, mobile deposit says "an error occurred, contact your institution." It's almost like FNCU would prefer you to stop using its mobile app and go right back to 2007 and do all of your banking in person.

Face ID breaks constantly, rough functionality

Every single time I open this app, I'm required to re-enable Face ID. What's the point of even having Face ID functionality if I have to enter my password every time I use the app to re-enable Face ID? This has been an issue with the app for months and FNCU does nothing to address it. The app itself is also very rough. Want to view your credit card detail? Clicking on credit card in the main menu doesn't work. You instead need to use the side menu. This app feels like a bad banking app from about ten years ago, and it really needs work.

Unreliable

Sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s frustrating especially when I’m traveling out of State.

Broken app

This app is terrible and I’m looking for a new credit union / bank because of it. The “current balance” for my credit card is very out of date - it only seems to update when I transfer money to the credit card. The ezcard info section of the app logs me out sporadically with no ability to log back in. Also, the button to pay off the credit card disappeared one day and tech support told me that there never was such a button. It reappeared the next day.

Good App

I really like the funds transfer and the ability of to see my transactions on my checking account. I would like to be able to see the transactions of my credit card.

Not updating

Hasn’t updated the correct amount of money in my account since 12/31/20. It is now 1/3/21.

Irritating despite the improvements

Better than it used to be, but still needs some serious updating. I track my budget very closely and sometimes the seconds it takes to close this app, open my budget app, and enter an amount has me completely logged out of this app. Sometimes I log in and receive an error that the app has "timed out" before it ever even loads properly. It is frustrating beyond belief when I'm trying to go between this app, my budget app, and my credit card app and I have to RE-LOGIN EVERY 15 SECONDS. I'm seriously debating leaving First Northern for a financial institution that makes online banking simpler, even after 10+ years of loyalty and several life changes, because their online banking continues to be needlessly complicated and obtuse.

Terrible accounting

Deposits should be put in before withdrawal happen on a given day. We always have a check on the 15th and 30th every month. And we have automatic transfers setup. However, you perform overdraws if there is not enough in the account before the check clears on the same day.

Fee for account balance

I have never heard of having to pay for someone to tell you the balance in your account. FNCU you tried it! Not only am I closing my account, but I will let the social media world know about your ridiculous ways of keeping live agents employed by assessing fees for something so silly.

Mobile deposit and alerts don’t work

An upgrade is needed as I can’t even deposit checks because the app won’t take pictures of the check. In addition I set up alerts and those don’t come through. To make matters worse I have my bank account connected to EveryDollar and because of the security setup I keep having to reauthorize the account. Too much work but what can you do???
