Thanks for taking the time to share this, and for trying to use goConfirm the way it’s meant to be used in your conversations with landlords. Our team started operating these Buffalo groups after a long stretch without active management, which left a backlog of illegitimate accounts and low-effort posts from before our involvement. Since then, we’ve been working steadily to clean things up and reestablish a stronger sense of community. Requiring or encouraging use of goConfirm is a key part of that and helps deter and protect against scammers. We want to give people a way to connect about rental and roommate searches with more confidence, despite increasingly common scams in this space. We’re introducing the app and rebuilding the group culture at the same time, and that takes a bit of time to take hold. While goConfirm is already being used by tens of thousands of people across the US and Canada, we’re still working on building local density in areas like Buffalo. We're also improving how the app gets introduced within groups (so it’s clear that people should use it in their interactions with one another) and working on more tools for users to introduce and share it. We want more people to understand how and why to use it in their one-on-one interactions, rather than only seeing it as a requirement in the rules or solely for joining the groups. While we definitely would love for more people to use the app so they can reduce their risk of and exposure to fraud and scammers, we’re committed to making the groups we support safer in general and more reliable for everyone in them.
