Lost Existing Reward Points
I had to download this new app when the Gong Cha USA app was no longer supported. They said my account would transfer, but when I tried to log in I wasn’t in the system, and I lost my free drink coupon and rewards points.
Old app was so much better
I really don’t have any idea why companies keep making changes to apps that are perfectly functional. The old app was great. I could pay with Apple Pay. In the new app you can no longer use Apple Pay and it’s really hard to find anything in the menu. Honestly after this and the price hikes they did where they’re hiding money in taxes and fees. I’m just gonna stop using them.
My best guess is The American arm was bought by a capital firm that is now trying to squeeze all the money they can out of things. Sad to see this I really liked these places.

Worst app on my phone
Crashes constantly. Can’t find my local store and keeps thinking I’m in another city. Going in loops at login. Keeps telling me to download a new version and then tells me it’s not available. Seriously the worst development on an app I’ve seen. WOW.
Glitchy order system and No Apple Pay.
I don’t want to store my credit card in the app. Last time I ordered the person at the register asked if I was sure I ordered at their location it is the only location I go to. After a 12 min drive( I put my order in early so I can walk in and get my drink.) I had to wait since it didn’t go through even though the card I entered was charged. I was able to pull it up in order history the person at the register click a few button then print out my order. Painful experience for someone who has been going to this place for at least four years.

Non-functional
Tried to submit an order 3 times and it declined for no reason. I had full service and all information was correct. Had to go to the location and use the kiosk, which then didn’t acknowledge the rewards I have in my account so I paid full price.
Order from app with extra service fee
Why pay extra fee since I’m going to pick it up in the store?
Lost My Points :(
I had a free drink reward and was on my way to another one i had 680 points in my account and when switching to this one (and logging in with my correct # and email) i only have 6 points and my free drink reward i had is nowhere to be found :(
Can’t place an order
They are pushing the new app, but I can’t even pay for my tea. I had to call the location and put in the order that way. The old app doesn’t work either. Even though I have location service services turned on, it can’t locate a store when I type in the address. Useless and I hope they fix it soon.
Made me consider no longer going to Gong Cha
The app is so bad in comparison to prior iterations that after years of being a patron I’d rather just switch to another company. Order Options missing, payment methods missing, rewards from the past all gone. Slower and more difficult to navigate while having less information presented.
Big downgrade
Whenever I try to order theres payment issues and I end up going in store to order. The whole app in general feels unrefined, font is hard to look at and I feel like I’m scrolling forever to see a single drink at a time.
I can’t log in as an existing customer
Originally I had the Gong Cha DMV app that never worked but I happened to check in today to see if it had updated. To my surprise a notification popped up asking me to download this app. Neither works unfortunately. Why they would migrate us from one non-working app to another is beyond me.
Points are gone.
I’ve been going to gong cha for years and I’ve accumulated a big chunk of points (32k), but now with this new app all my points are gone. It brought me all the way down to 316pts.

Old app was so much better. Also no apple pay??
Very buggy and fonts are difficult to read
Had issues with submitting payment with new app. It took at least 5 tries. The old app was fine and took Apple Pay. The new reward system isn’t great either. There was more incentives with the old app. Also noticed they took some longtime favorite flavors off the menu too. Font is difficult to read and the app is buggy, you can’t tap on anything it will just redirect you elsewhere. Please bring back the old app, the previous rewards system, and old

You can’t pay for orders on the app
When you try to check out to place the order, you get an error message saying “Payment details: Save Your Card Feature coming soon”. And it doesn’t let you pay. There’s literally no way to place or pay for an order using this app…which completely defeats the point and makes the entire app useless

Cheating existing members
Since the update of the apps, my member information, including all my reward points have disappeared. With so many tea places around, I guess there’s no more reason to be loyal to Gong Cha.
Lost my gift card money
I was forced to update the app and then when I logged in, my gift card balance is 0. I had $50 unused gift cards $ and it disappeared
Downgrade
The app is clunky and took out all the favorite promos such as Milk Tea Monday and BOGO Wednesday. All my points are gone from the old app. Can’t even blame my Gong Cha workers because this is the corporate’s fault. So frustrated.
