Webp ruining images
July 14th: Received 0 help from support. Fix this bug. The desktop version still sends pngs properly, but some of us work from android or ios. Don't just tell me 'submit feedback via the feedback button' either. That's not dev support, that's passing the buck.

All of a sudden, all pngs sent through Gchat are being turned into artifacted webp's. It ruins the quality of images and we don't know if or how to turn it back off. Please change this back, it's now impossible to send pngs without a ton of loss of quality.

For some reason it won’t let me chat with friends and keeps sending me back to the App Store say that I need to update…?
Notifications don’t come through
Horrible app, and horrible notification process across Mac ecosystem of devices. All my notifications are on and set to persistent across devices in both chat settings and iOS settings. And yet, the dumb thing arbitrarily doesn’t send me messages unless I actively open the app and let it load. When my Mac is open, things are even less predictable. Sometimes notifications come through on my Mac/iPhone and sometimes I miss messages all together. As a business owner who just switched to the google workspace ecosystem I’m very disappointed and am shocked this hasn’t been fixed.
