bare bones

there’s potential here, but right now this is barely a game. recruited heroes are one of three classes, each of which scales off of a single relevant stat (STR, AGI, INT). each hero has only two gear slots, and each gear piece has only one stat. missions are organized into solo and 3-member party missions, and each mission has (you guessed it!) a primary stat that is favored.

that means the entire gameplay loop is sending one or three heroes at a time to do a matching-stat quest. no opportunity of build synergistic parties, no opportunity to specialize or customize heroes in any meaningful way.

there are only two currencies, gold and gems.

the other game modes, such as they are, are a weekly boss (three phases of 3-member missions) and a “colosseum” where you send a hero to fight… someone? and five minutes later the game tells you if you won or lost. there is also the possibility that your guild will be “raided,” but this does not appear to be a player-controlled mechanic and only serves as a tax on your gold income.

there are a variety of other UI quirks and small criticisms, but in its current state this is a number-go-up simulator with very few numbers.

Response from developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback. This is genuinely useful, and you're right that we can do a better job both adding depth and showing the depth that's there. A few things you may not have hit yet: raids aren't just a tax. When the warning banner appears you can pick your defender, scout the raider's level, recall a hero, and build Stone Walls or Guard Barracks to blunt them. Heroes can also promote into 6 advanced classes with different growth, and quest events test your off-stats. That said, your Colosseum criticism landed: an update is coming that shows the full matchup, both fighters' power, your pre-fight win odds, your rating change, and a recent-battles history. Plus a party synergy bonus for mixing classes on group missions. We'd love for you to give it another look when it ships. Thanks for pushing us to make it better.

Fun way to pass little bits of time

I’m on my fourth day. I find myself coming back to play with the little bits of free time I get. I think the aspect of matching the heroes to quests and equipping items is interesting enough to grab my attention for a few minutes everyday. It’s not complex and requires just a little thought.

Response from developer

Thank you. This is exactly the game we hoped to build. "A few minutes a day, and just a little thought" was the whole design goal, so hearing it from someone on day four means a lot. If you keep going, the Colosseum is worth a look: same match-the-right-hero thinking, just against other players' teams, and it resolves on your schedule instead of making you sit and wait. Thanks for playing, and for taking the time to write this.

Great so far! Looking forward to more!!

Really loving this game so far. I like the gameplay loop and look forward to it. A couple of suggestions. 1) give me the option to sort equipment by class so I can easily upgrade my people. 2) I’d love a “log” of actions so I can look back at what I did recently in case I misclick an adventurer or something, 3) the tavern timer is off. When the day ticks over into midnight the whole amount appears at midnight rather than over 8 hours. Also I would personally prefer a “bank cap” rather than a daily cap. Daily just feels limiting and then I don’t have to check in again with it for 24 hours, 4) simplify the upkeep system or at least give it to me on one screen. Right now I have to go to 3 screens and calculate different upkeeps. If I could see it all on the guild Home Screen that would be great, 5) I’d love to see more achievements, maybe as tiers to work through. I’m only 5 days into the game and already worried about running out of achievements.

These are just a couple thoughts to improve the game over time. I really am loving it so far!

Response from developer

Thank you. We're really glad the loop is landing for you, and this is exactly the kind of feedback that shapes what we build next. Sorting equipment, an activity log, upkeep in one place, and deeper achievements are all on our list now. We're also looking into the tavern timer and will make any changes needed there. If you have any other feedback or questions, email us anytime at games@w3applications.com. We read everything. Thanks for playing!

Lots of potential

It’s a neat little game with a good repeat of things to manage. As long as it keeps being updated I think it could go a long way

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and the 5 stars! "A good repeat of things to manage" is exactly the loop we're going for, so it means a lot to hear it's landing. And don't worry, updates are absolutely still coming. We've got new content in the pipeline and we're committed to helping Guild Master Tycoon go the distance. Thanks for being part of the journey! 🛡️

Promotions

I like the game play so far unfortunately I can’t promote any of my people. Says I need to level up 10 times with 0/10. I have leveled up my guys several times from 18 to 31, 12 to 28 and so on.

Response from developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this, and you were absolutely right. We tracked down the bug: when we added hero promotions in a recent update, the game started counting levels gained from that point on, and it wasn't crediting all the leveling you'd already done. That's why a hero you'd taken from 18 to 31 was still showing 0/10. We've now pushed a server-side fix, so there's nothing for you to download. Just reopen the app and your progress will sync. Your heroes should be promotable again based on the leveling you've put in. One bit of honesty: the game didn't record exactly what level each hero was when you first recruited them, so we couldn't recover those numbers precisely. Instead we estimated each hero's starting level from their stats and reconstructed how many levels they'd gained, and wherever there was any doubt, we rounded in your favor. Thanks again for the detailed report, it genuinely helped us find and fix this. We hope you enjoy promoting your guild!
