Useless search. Getting worse every update
Mobile app does not save the search settings, making saving a search useless. I contacted the support team and they acknowledged this as a known issue.
The last update made the search even worse producing rubbish. I search for a Thicknesser and get carpets. I search for a jura coffee machine and see a sofas and chairs. Absolutely useless if you search by recency instead of ‘most suitable’.
It’s to the point I am about to uninstall the app because it’s frustrating to not find anything I’m actually trying to search for.
The ad issue reported by someone else 3 years ago, where the slightest proximity to the ad is taking you away from the app is still not fixed.
The platform is good, but the iOS app is not getting enough love nor care. C’mon Gumtree, have you even test this latest version?

Super Easy to Use
Reach is not as good as Facebook Marketplace but you tend to get less tyre kickers on Gumtree.

Having to pay for an ad that is listed for free is annoying

Seems to get worse over time. Always flickers and jumps back to the beginning of the search list. Makes it unusable if you have more than a few hits in your list
Unusable app
Seems like every time the ads refresh you get bumped back to the top of the listing after you just scrolled down this happens about every 10 seconds you can’t even see the listing deep down at the bottom…. Very annoying and frustrating

It’s been around for awhile now, was great for browsing the isles :) when bored and looking for a bargin! But has turned into a full migrant scammer centre!! Deleted this app never to be used again!!
To many ads & no dark mode
Way too many ads that intrude on the stuff that you’re trying to look at, plus no dark mode option whatsoever. Like come on, it’s 2026 do better.
Worst app
Constant crashes, slow loading, ads appear to be the fastest thing on the platform. Used to be reliable but now just needs to be in the bin

Unusable due to adds taking over screen.
I sadly can’t use gumtree to buy anymore due to complete take over by extremely annoying adds for kids games take over any control of my screen which as I’m 57 year old I’m so not interested in and won’t put up with. I have bought and sold hundreds of items over the years. I’m sure when enough people have had enough and you guys realise you are losing us you may remedy this absolutely atrocious change to our searches. Have a look at my use history and my current use history and you will see as soon as I’m ambushed ( probably about 2-3 minutes I shut it down and don’t open it again for days becoming weeks. Sad.

Terrible App
Messaging is so unreliable. Messages done send or receive half the time. Photos in particular. Hit send and not thing goes through. Send them again 20 minutes later and same thing happens. Enquiries don’t come through for sometime days, yet when they finally land in my inbox, they’re dated 3 days prior! It’s such an unreliable app. Gumtree, lift your game! It’s unacceptable.

Impossible to use app with the huge paid advertisements and automatically returns to top of the list when scrolling through. Gumtree was good 15 years ago but sadly they ruined it
