New update is not good

I loved the app but the new update makes it SO HARD to edit your food amount/volume and things are way harder to find in the app.

Response from developer

Thank you for the honest feedback, and I'm sorry the latest update made editing amounts and finding things harder. That's the opposite of what we intended. We're actively refining the new food logger, and edit-quantity friction is exactly what we want to fix. If you can share more through the in-app Support center in Settings, it reaches our team directly and genuinely shapes the next update. We'd love to win back that 5th star. Thank you, The Gutly Team

Helpful, but with quirks

While this tool has been helpful in logging symptoms, bms, food intake etc, it also has some User interface issues that can be a bit frustrating

Response from developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this thoughtful review. I’m really glad the app has been helpful for tracking your symptoms, BMs, and food intake, and I’m equally grateful you called out where things feel frustrating. I’m always working to make the interface smoother and more intuitive, and feedback like yours is exactly what helps guide future improvements. If you’re open to it, I’d love to hear a bit more about the specific UI issues you’re running into so I can pass them directly to the design and development team: mikkel@bornly.com Thanks again for sticking with the app and helping make it better.

Unhelpful

I will rewrite this if I find this to be user error, but on the very first meal I tried tracking, none of the ingredients were in the system. On the second meal, I tried tracking. I used a barcode and that was not in the system either. I was unable to upload the information as well. This was supposed to save me time and has wasted over an hour of it!

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback and I’m really sorry for the frustration and time lost. This is absolutely not the experience we want you to have with Gutly. Our food and barcode database is still growing, so there will unfortunately be items we don’t have yet—but you should never be stuck or unable to log a meal. Not being able to upload the information yourself sounds like a technical issue, and I’d really like to look into that for you. If you’re open to it, please reach out through the in-app support or email us (support@bornly.com) with the foods you tried to scan and any screenshots. This will help us fix the problem faster and add the missing items for you and other users. I truly appreciate you giving Gutly a try, and I hope we can turn this around so it becomes the time-saving tool you were expecting.

Our team is actively investigating and working on improvements, and your feedback helps us prioritize fixes. If you’re open to it, please reach out through the in-app support or our support email with details about your device and what’s going wrong so we can look into it more closely. We appreciate your patience and support while we work on an update to improve your experience.

Needs a lot of work - could be great

I paid for a month to try this out properly. It looks nice, with good artwork and animations. The main issue is the food database - it’s limited to the point of being useless. The option to describe your food and an AI guesses calories, macros etc is really good though. Scanning a barcode works maybe half the time but the food quantity is always ā€œ100gā€, which makes accuracy really difficult. There’s an option to manually add food to a database but I’ve never made it work - it wants photos, calories etc and just isn’t worth doing if I could make it work. There’s no option to make your own ā€œfavouriteā€ foods that you can quickly add to your timeline, which is a blindingly obvious omission- I did suggest it to the devs but never heard back. Support and updates are lacking.
The mood entry is fairly limited- just stress and anxiety levels, which isn’t that useful. The symptom page is good but no option for custom symptoms that might be helpful. The main function of it spotting patterns in symptoms and food is limited due to the problems with accurately recording foods. Overall I’d give it a miss - go with a more popular app that has better dev support and frequent updates.

It’s hard to modify

I took a picture of my food and I didn’t recognize everything in there. I couldn’t modify the items or the quantity and then when I needed to go back to what I wrote down, it wasn’t on there.

Response from developer

Hi there. Sorry the app gave you trouble. You can edit items/ingredients, quantities, and revisit saved meals, so something clearly didn’t work as intended. We have no troubles testing it ourself, so please email me at mikkel@bornly.com with a quick note about your device and what happened, and we’ll sort it out right away. Thanks for letting us know and helping us improve!

False advertising

It says free trial, and try for free but then charges you.

Response from developer

Sorry, but that is not true. We have a free trial on our yearly plan - and most of the app is free anyways. Only advanced features like GutAI and GutProfile requires premium membership. Please email me at mikkel@bornly.com if you have had any troubles starting your free trial and we will sort if out.

Finally!

Finally an app where I can track all my gut problems and see what drives the bloating!! Thank you šŸ¤©šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

Has so much more potential

I’ve been searching for an ibs journal for so long now, I’ve given up. Basically 100 bucks for a year and you can’t even take document meals you’ve had, unable to take photos of your meals or excrements - understandably not everyone wants to, but for long term ibs individuals, or even for the people who are just beginning to suffer from it, being able to document blood, mucus and all the rest becomes a bit important. Doctors have been asking for photos to note the process. This feature would have been incredible. Along with Face ID options.

The perks are you can document food triggers and record it via two options. A quick option, or a slow take option: which basically reminds you when to try and take unknown food and see how you respond. That’s great. The downside is, is that if you know that FETA is friendly for you, you still have to take the trial and wait it out which was exhausting.

I cancelled my subscription since I can’t justify the exorbitant amount with such little features. If these were brought in, I would come back.

Nope

It looks nice and is a good idea but that’s about all. Nobile has time to test food 1/4 serving at a time. We are normal people with lives. There’s no other way to track food and half the foods I’ve tried to find ARE NOT ON THERE. So no tracking those. Definitely not worth $60 a year

Search limited

Just downloaded the app. Looked good initially. Today I have had oat milk, almond milk, wild rice and was interested to know about how much I can have on fodmap - I searched - none of them were on the list. App now deleted.

Search bar useless

Cannot work out how to log my diet and the search bar in the food section does absolutely nothing.
