Best Workout App I’ve Ever Used

I’ve been using Strong for years, and I’ve also tried several other workout apps, including Trainerize, JEFIT, and others, trying to find the perfect one. I was always looking for an app that could give me useful data and feedback, help with progression, stay simple to use, let me easily create my own splits, have built-in timers, and work with my Apple Watch.

Until I found Gript, I could never find one that checked all those boxes. I eventually just settled on Strong and programmed my own progression, which worked, but honestly wasn’t much different than carrying around a notepad.

Gript checks all those boxes and then some. The layout is simple, it’s easy to navigate, and I really like that it actually helps you know when it’s time to increase the weight. I’m not sure yet if it also recommends when to increase reps, but that’s something I’ll be suggesting to the developers because I think that would make it even better.

I also really like the amount of data it gives you. You can see your training trends, volume, muscle balance, training frequency, etc. The muscle balance feature in particular is really cool because it gives you an easy visual of how much you’re training each body part.

The exercise library is huge, and the demonstrations and cues are really helpful, especially when trying an exercise I haven’t done before.

From what I can tell, this is a newer app, and one of the things I appreciate most is that the developers actually seem to listen to feedback and respond. I had an issue with adding comments to individual exercises, brought it to their attention, and they were already working on fixing it and sent me an update afterward.

I’ve spent years trying different workout apps, and Gript is by far the best one I’ve used. It finally feels like I found the app I was looking

Response from developer

Thank you so much for this review! Seriously, it means a lot to us! We're really happy to hear that Gript finally feels like the workout app you were looking for. And good news... Gript does recommend when to increase reps too, not just weight, as part of the progression logic :) We're still improving the app all the time, so keep the feedback coming. We're always listening!
