This is the 2025. There is no reason for you not to allow International numbers on the app
If you only want German travelers to use the app and not foreigners to be able to book tickets then you should have something that says this. There is no need to let us go through downloading the app and signing up for an account then finding out that we have a phone number that is not German so we cannot get the verification codes to use the app or online website. In this day and age there should be no excuse for this. So much money lost.

This app is useless.
Worst App Ever!
First, it doesn't allow me to detele my payment method. An second it's useless. Annoying registration ang long. NO customer support. Avoid it!
6 years later and just as bad!
Managed the registration process with some pain and soon realised App had next to zero consideration for user! Apart from inadvertently buying monthly tickets in the wrong direction for almost a year, the App seems to decide on its own when to issue you your already paid for ‘10-Trip ticket’.
Admittedly, the latest problem seem to get worse when the EU Payment Service Directive (PSD2) became effective.

For Non-Europeans...
When setting up payment methods, it would seem that Americans and other non-European people wouldn’t be able to proceed.
I’m from the States and I simply entered my address as I normally would, but chose “Germany” for my country. Then I chose “Credit Card” because US debit cards won’t work as a debit card with the system HandyTicket is using. After that, I entered all of my Visa debit card information, validated it, and saved it.
Works perfectly. 🙂
