Bulky requires cuff calibration

This might’ve been a little useful 10 years ago, but when we have things like Apple watches and Oura rings, it is silly and useless. Why wear a bulky black Velcro band with a hard tracker inside when there are much smaller or more stylish options especially when those other options give you so much more than a heart rate reading. Also have to calibrate with an actual blood pressure cuff on the arm.

Defective Cuff and No Real Support

was genuinely interested in the Hilo system. Continuous blood-pressure tracking with a wrist band plus occasional calibration sounded like a practical step up from spot-checking with a traditional cuff, and I went in expecting to use it long-term.
Unfortunately the included upper-arm cuff never worked reliably. Readings jumped all over the place or the unit simply wouldn’t complete a measurement. On multiple occasions the cuff kept inflating well past a normal cycle—sometimes for minutes—until my arm was numb and I had to stop it myself. Because the cuff is required for initial setup and ongoing calibration, a non-functional cuff made the rest of the system unusable from the start.
I contacted the company, explained the problem clearly, and offered to ship the defective cuff back in exchange for a replacement so they could inspect it. I received no meaningful response. For a product that depends on that cuff and requires an ongoing subscription, the inability (or unwillingness) to simply swap a clearly defective component was a deal-breaker. I cancelled and moved on.
I’ve since switched to a Garmin cuff and have had consistent, trouble-free readings. I still like the idea of what Hilo is trying to do, but a device that doesn’t work out of the box combined with unresponsive support isn’t something I can recommend.

Great, but….

…. this is a tremendous wearable to monitor how your blood pressure changes, and I’m very, very impressed. However, I have two other blood pressure monitors, both well thought of, and both of them cuffed based. They consistently give me lower blood pressure readings than does the Hilo. The highlow readings are about anything from 5 to 10 points higher than the other two calf readings. Both the other calves give comparable results. I wish there was a way we could alter the results so that they gave a better, more accurate reading of daily blood pressure changes. Nevertheless, I recommend this to anyone concerned about their blood pressure or has heart issues.

Set up flow is broken

I cannot set up my Hilo even with the help of support. The app is broken in several places. The location screen is broken. The email confirmation is broken. Terrible experience

Not Changing

Charged up the first time then it would not charge again so I got one charge worth of history.

Readings are consistently higher than standard cuff measures

I really wanted to like this device. I have tried it for several weeks, taking my blood pressure with two secondary devices (standard cuff machines) and comparing readings. This device consistently measures significantly higher than my two different cuff readings. And I’ve had problems re-calibrating my strap, with the app telling me there was no wireless connection and it had to re-do the calibration— which consists of three more readings on an already exhausted arm. Sadly, I cannot recommend this app or product.

Terrible App

Zero stars. Had to delete and reinstall the App 7 times. Still hung up and wouldn’t advance after getting stuck pairing the cuff. Cuff was paired and indicated as such, but the app was stuck. Reattempts on the app and it wouldn’t even load and open. iPhone 13.

Expensive and not worth the hype! 90 % data or more come on your smart watch

The app only gives average data, there is nothing real time . No ability to place or record activities . Off by atleast +-10 on bp measurement and cannot track while exercising or other activity because there is nothing real time! Not worth the subscription or the amount spend on the device. All these metrics can be tracked by Apple or another type of device for free including sleep health and vo2. Maybe in the future we get something better !

Forced into new app with less data

I bought my band when it was still owned by Aktiia; I love the actual band but not the new owners. Now Hilo wants me to pay a yearly subscription for data I was already getting for free before. And it’s not even a reasonable amount considering many smart watches are now integrating BP technology. $150/year for a device that basically does one thing is basically just a cash grab before it becomes obsolete.

Not as advertised

I sent mine back. Flaws included: the cuff that syncs with the wrist monitor that you wear all day is in accurate so it synced 20pts above my actual systolic. They advertise this as continuous BP monitoring but it’s not - it only gives you readings when you’re still and it gives you an average over that time period. Want to check your BP in that instant? Nope, it won’t do that! It also locks you into an annual subscription and for no real reason, there’s limited need for ongoing support, this is just a cash grab.

Bottom line, this tech is headed in a good direction but this feels way to raw to take to market and ultimately too expensive with the subscription to be worth it. When someone comes up with a one-off purchase that gives me an instant read of BP on the app, I’m in.

Latest version removes access to the full dataset

While the HiLo device is great and works well, I’m very dissatisfied with app at this point. When I originally got the device, the app made the full dataset accessible in the reports. This is very useful data so you can identify triggers for blood pressure spikes that you can no longer do because you only get to see averages now. Before, If you wanted you could build your own app or use the third party app in the store to push the granular data into Apple Health. Taking the general view that users and their doctors are too stupid to be able to use the individual data points is insulting. It’s fine to have a report that shows the averages, but there needs to an option to pull all the measurements. Further, in countries with GPDR, the removal of this and completely limiting of access to the full data set is itself illegal. I’m going to keep my review at one star until this gets fixed because this service is not inexpensive and my personal health data belongs to me, not Hilo. Make the data accessible again.

This one actually works!

OK, I know there’s a lot of fake reviews out there but I’m a legitimate user. I have tried several other devices and they all failed when measuring my blood pressure. This is the first mobile device that actually works. Don’t delay if you have blood pressure concerns get this band now it’s been terrific. There is a set up. So you need to be patient to go through the set up. But if you follow the process, their algorithm works very well. I ran this side-by-side against two other blood pressure pressure cuff monitors just to make sure - this thing is within a few points.. Cheers to the Hilo team for getting it right and not selling us another snake oil device. FYI, I tried Apple Watch. I have tried Hume. I have tried the wrist cuff, which works good but is cumbersome and this thing is super comfortable and does everything I wanted to do.. Also, I can connect to Apple Health and I even can share the results with my doctor.

Needs to share data!

This app does not share its blood pressure measurements (the 2 hour measurements )with Apple health and/or by CSV export. The value of this app and hardware is to get a sense of how BP changes during the day. ( sharing 1 average value per day as they currently do with apple health undermines their whole value — if they believe there is value in their trend data the they should share it). However keeping the trends detail hostage in the app severely limits the ability to make this data actionable in the context of other health apps that are recording exercise, sleep , diet, meds out side of this app. It makes no sense for an app in 2026 not to share this data.

Excellent Product

I have unstable blood pressure and it can be low or high. This makes it so easy to track at a glance and it’s perfectly accurate. Love it!!!

“One blood pressure [and heart rate] average per day”

After 4 days of calibration, only then did I learn the title I gave for this review is what you get when you sync a Hilo band with Apple Health. To generate a long term report, you must use the Hilo Core app and even then, its granularity is 2 hour averaged readings. Hilo suggests if you want more frequent readings, use their traditional blood pressure cuff.

Peace of mind!

Was waiting on the wearable to reach the US for some time. With so many variations in my BP it is comforting to see that I’m actually where I need to be, thanks to the insights of the Hilo band.

My only complaint and why I dropped two stars is because the app does not share data to Apple Health. It has the setting but that does not actually do anything. When checking with support, the Hilo site chatbot confirmed this is how it is. If you want to share data to Apple Health, you’ll need a third party app. Kind of bad for an expensive sophisticated device. I’ll bump to 5 stars if they ever implement this.
