We had used Honeyfund for our wedding this past year and was looking for an easy way to set up a registry that would allow people to “get us gifts” while allowing us the flexibility to choose what we want to spend it on. The interface itself was very easy to set up and use on both ends and after the wedding, started taking out the money with their PayPal option. There are plenty of other gift card options from various companies and stores to choose from as well, but not what we were looking for out of this. Halfway through us taking the money out, Honeyfund changed their options to only allow instant transfers to PayPal which includes a 2% transaction fee, removing the free version altogether. For those looking to use this in the future, beware!

SCAMS. Their gift cards or “Honeyfund” card doesn’t work!
Non-functional
The app is a great idea and could be super beneficial to couples getting married however, the app will never let you login if you ever log out. I’ve tried to recover my account and I’ve even made a new password. Nothing ever works and you cannot get into the app.
It’s alright
We had money donated to us, but since I handle linked a bank account yet, when I finally did, it told me the only future donations could be pulled out into the bank. So I’m forced into using gift cards. We are honeymooning in Carmel and can’t use any of those gift cards here. And it’s not like we could have redeemed it for the hotel, despite there being a hotels.com option for gift card. After all, we booked the hotel months ago.

It keeps logging me out and glitches like crazy, use website instead.
Watch out for 1099-K Form
We loved this option for our honeymoon & used the free QR code to print it off at one wedding, as well as the website. It was fully customizable and great! However we weren’t too happy when it came time to deposit the money, the only option was to be paid via PayPal, which was great. But later I received a 1099-K form for the full cash amount of our gifts. Why are we being taxed on gifts even tho the transfer fully showed Honeyfund? I’m not sure if this is HF or PayPals issue but now i have to fix this. Watch out for ways to avoid this when transferring your gifts..

App issues
It’s nice to have a cash fund registry, but the app is terrible and not user friendly at all. It logs out constantly and whenever I try to click something, it logs me out. It’s not worth getting the app
App isn’t worth it
It’s easier and better on your laptop than it is on your phone.
No One Works Here
I initially tried setting up an account with them for my wedding but came an across an issue that my Canadian ID was not being accepted. I had contacted for help and no response. At that point, I decided to go else where and again, closed the account BUT asked them to DELETE all my data/ info from their site… Still no response… I HIGHLY NOT recommend this site or app… Trust me, it’ll save you the headache… And they BETTER DELETE my data/ info off their database….

Too many emails
I deleted this app because I had to block a phone number and an email due to receiving multiple texts and emails every single day since I downloaded the app. It was so freaking annoying. I didn’t even figure out how to use it but the excessive messaging was just too much.
Buggy
I’ve been trying to setup my account but I’m always getting logged out and the pictures won’t upload. It’s just too buggy to keep trying to fight with to use.

I am trying to edit my site and as soon as I click that link and begin scrolling, the app restarts and sends me back to the log in screen. Please help!!
Glitchy App
I’m getting a little nervous with this app. I’ve already created our website and I’m already having problems. I was told they updated and I needed to see if I had the latest. I do and I’m still having issues getting to see who gifted what. Yes, I can use my computer. But if I’m not near it, the app is the next best thing.
Between this and some of the latest reviews, I’m questioning my decision. It’s too late since the QR code has already been mailed with the invites.

The App Needs Work
The idea of the app overall is cute with how you can customize it and set up your funds, etc. But the app itself is total garbage. It’s so laggy. The photos never fit in the frame with how you adjusted it. It always logs me out. I was creating my website on my phone via a browser and I was like “oh this is so bad, let me just get the app.” Assuming it would be 10x better. No, it’s not lol. They really need to work on the app bugs and glitches…

Poor Product, Horrific Customer Service
My wife and I registered on Honeyfund for our recent wedding because we really wanted a nice honeymoon instead of items. We have been consistently disappointed every step of the way.
First, the app and website are difficult to navigate. The app makes you login excessively, unlike most other apps with single sign on. It’s not immediately clear how you can receive your funds, and it’s deceptively easy to fall for their advertisement of getting your cash without fees.
Our wedding came and went, and we opted to do two lump sum withdrawals from our Honeyfund into PayPal. What they don’t tell you is that your gifts of money are sent to PayPal as either a “good or a service”, and therefore, subject to income tax at 20%+ if your withdrawal is greater than $600. This decision was not made with our knowledge or consent. Our gifts of money are not in exchange for either a “good or service provided”.
We were advised that we will get a 1099 form at the end of the year to work with a tax professional to get our money and file the taxes appropriately. This is incorrect; neither a good or service was performed, and therefore, does not constitute income. How Honeyfund made that assessment is wrong, and appalling. We received almost $4,000 on Honeyfund instead of our friends and family giving us cash or checks. So in essence, the end result is that most of money is being taxed because Honeyfund improperly codes the transaction to PayPal.
Do not use Honeyfund for any reason. Sadly, go the old fashioned way of taking cash or check.

Cannot redeem funds
I tried redeeming the funds for an Amazon gift card and the button will not connect me to Amazon. The other gift cards are not what I'm interested in.
No instant deposit - BEWARE!!
Would be a great app if you could deposit the funds received instantly into your bank account just like with applepay, cashapp, Venmo, PayPal, etc.
I don’t understand why you can set up an account instantly and start moving money around within minutes with the above apps but not with HoneyFund. Also, you have to scan a government issued ID and go through a biometric photo taking process. This would be fine IF after your identity was successfully verified; you had the option of depositing YOUR funds into YOUR accounts instantly.

DO NOT USE - SCAM!
They don’t give you you’re money for months! They try to push you to buy gift cards with the cash people gift you. AND they take a %. SCAM
