Unwanted
Glitchy app
Almost everything is awesome!
But the packing department lacks quality. EVERY WEEK my groceries are covered in gel from the leaking cold packs they use. IT’S A MESS! And the box leaks and makes a mess on my porch. I’m not exaggerating when I say this happens every week. Customer service thinks this is fine because the gel is “non-toxic.”
Also, the people packing the food don’t care. Last week my salad greens were freezer burnt due to their placement in the box. Week before that my chicken empanadas were at the very top of the box, not placed in the cold section of the box at the bottom. Food containers are often crushed and damaged. Also, delivery is known to arrive a day late. :/
Despite the packing and delivery failures, Hungryroot still has my business. They are the best option for me - one single person living in a rural area.

Let’s talk truth
Hungryroot has been a staple in my household for almost a year now. I don’t only use the recipes, I often utilize their groceries feature, too. My kids go through that pineapple like it was freshly cut from a tree. They’ve also explored so many things they never did before.
Obviously I still buy staples like cereal and their faves that HR might now offer (check for milk! It’s there!) and their customer service gets a bad rap.
I literally dropped my phone in liquid last week and have been scrambling to log back into apps that mattered (passwords are my kryptonite), and all it took was a text to customer service and I was back up and back to curating my next box within a few hours.
I’ve always been skeptical about meal planning sub boxes—this one has earned their place in Mom Word of Mouth: try it, it’s worth it, you guys.
So good and so easy

The last couple of times I’ve checked my order they have also added snacks that take my points total over the amount I have signed up for. This time they added an extra $10 worth of snacks, and the food certainly isn’t worth that much. Not sure why they keep doing that. Are people not checking the order before it goes through and so they pay extra without noticing? Also seems pretty dishonest.
I find the meal choice is repetitive and boring if you have diet restrictions. They have introduced me to some fun new brands I probably wouldn’t have tried, but on the whole, its not enough to keep me as a customer.
Great recipes, but questionable produce
Unreliable
Complete joke
I would give this company zero stars if I could. After seeing the amount charged compared to the quantity of food provided, I was shocked. I can get significantly more food from the grocery store for a fraction of the price.
The value simply isn’t there. Extremely disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this service to anyone looking for affordable meal options.
