This game has a lot of nuances and elements for life in Mediaeval times. Knights and Kings are part of the game as well as war and dragons. Fantasy dominates all. Very enjoyable building your own kingdom but watch out for other kings who build their kingdoms raiding others.
Don’t waste your time!
After 15 years of playing Evony, I’ve finally given it up. Bots and resource sellers have ruined every new server now; there’s a cap on how many players can join a server and the majority of space is taken up by bots and resource sellers so you have very limited actual players to play with. I spent months reporting to customer service a resource seller who had a bot alliance of 25 accounts, finally the bots got deleted and the resource seller hasn’t logged in since. Fast forward not even a week later and a new resource seller with another 25 accounts pops up to replace. Again, after back and forth with customer service, the bots get deleted however no action is taken against the resource seller’s account, even though I provided clear evidence of the seller’s messages to me confirming he is resource selling (against the Terms of Service). Fast forward again and the same second resource seller is back up and running with another 25 bot accounts in his alliance. How can he keep creating accounts on a closed server unless Evony is implicit in this scam? The biggest guy on our server also went AWOL when the first resource seller got banned, and I’m 99% sure that account was either run or funded by Evony to get legitimate players to spend more cash. I’ve met some great people and had some great times, and if you’re not bothered about playing with an unfair advantage and paying to a company (the same company that stopped updating their sister game, Plague of Z, even though people continued to play and pay there), then Evony can be a fun game. But if you don’t want to get taken for a mug and waste your time trying to keep up with cheating/bot accounts, then don’t bother downloading.

Don’t spend any money
This game is fun at the start but as the server grows the only people that do well are those spending thousands of dollars on this game. I would not even consider downloading because the bigger players will constantly attack you if your shields are down. Some servers are nap but many are not. It’s not worth anyone’s time unless you want to play for fun and even then it’s not that fun. You may have 2 billion power but a 10 billion or 23 billion will eat you like semi hitting a fly. It’s a nice concept but would only be good if they put an option in that if you do not want to participate in getting attacked with shields down you do not get attack. Maybe have and option every week if you do want to participate in pvp or sit and enjoy the game. The only ones who get big are those spending tons of money. Just letting you all know

Don’t bother
They have terms of service that they do not enforce. Keeps who spend exponentially increase their advantage through cheating. Whether it’s the use of third party bots acting as rally cards on alternate accounts or the continued access of third party bots scanners, evony doesn’t care. Note the developer response that is coming. They will apologize and say they are working on it. They have been doing that for years.
