How To Scan Non-Passport ID
The app is really poor at explaining things so I’ll explain here. When you take a picture of your ID it will first scan the front (green outline), then show an animation of an ID flipping over. That’s when you flip it over and scan the back (again green outline). I have no idea why they don’t seperate the front and back into two seperate scans or make it clearer that the front has been scanned and it wants you to flip, but I believe this will help solve some people’s issues.

Scans incorrectly
I have scanned both my drivers license and passport. My birth day is 12/20/2001. It keeps recording that my birthday is 1-12-20. Last time I checked, 6 year olds don’t take the GRE. Thank goodness I did this well in advance to my test date.
App simply doesn’t work
The is just won’t register the fact that my ID is in the frame. I’ve tried different angles, lighting, backgrounds and it simply won’t work.

By the amount of one stars here I’m wondering if the 5 stars aren’t paid reviews.
Bad User Experience
This is the worst app i ever used, this is my second day trying to scan my ID with no success. Added frustration here obviously because ETS should do better to relieve the stress around exam prep, this should be the least of our problems yet here we are. I’ve tried to scan multiple times, well lit and dark room, stable placement and unstable, deleted and reinstalled still no success and it makes no sense why. I can’t help but wonder if this app was even tested at all. User experience is a solid 0.

One of the worst only use for gre verification
Annoying, picky, ultimately frustrating. That’s all I felt using this app. Hopefully est stop using this app and can verify ids a different way.

Got mine to work
This app is horrible. It wouldn’t scan my ID despite displaying the green border. However, after deleting and reinstalling I chose to scan my passport instead. Keep only the main page in the frame and it should go. To scan the chip, mine worked as instructed (via scanning the back cover page). Best of luck to anyone who needs to use this

Will not recognize my ID
I am having the same issue as everyone else. The app will not recognize my ID and I have been on hold for an hour trying to figure out next steps.

The app will not verify my ID and I have tried numerous times. When I called customer service they just said to uninstall and then reinstall.

I needed to use this app for identification of TOEFL. This app scanned my passport and show me Personal Number and Document Number. What is Personal Number and Document Number????????? I know passport number but I don’t know Personal Number and Document Number in my passport. And there was any experiment for Personal Number and Document Number. Useless.

How to make it work
It’s clear why the app has 1 star. This is what worked for me: 1. when scanning the U.S. passport, put only the page with the picture in frame, NOT both (picture and signature pages). 2. When looking for the chip, open the cover page and put your phone to the next shiny page half way down. It found the chip right away. It did not work through the cover page. Good luck!
