Wouldn’t work with home assistant!

Complete garbage forcing me to TS account

The app makes it impossible for me to login to my own server, because it is constantly asking me to login to tailscale.com, which I refuse. Whenever I cancel, it stops everything I was doing and starts back from zero. Incompetence is strong in this app, one has to wonder how it passed QA. I REFUSE TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT FOR SOMETHING I DONT NEED.

Aweful

They dont allow you to use an email address to create an account. They force you to use a third party authenticator. This is a highly unsecure process. I recommend you pass, and use a different app.

FAQ

What does Tailscale do?

Tailscale is a secure connectivity platform that uses a mesh VPN architecture built on WireGuard. It allows you to securely connect people, workloads, and devices to anything on the internet. It brings identity to network access, enabling Zero Trust principles and simplifying software-defined networking.

How does Tailscale enhance security?

Tailscale enhances security by implementing Zero Trust principles at the network layer. Access is controlled based on users, groups, tags, and devices rather than IP addresses, ensuring end-to-end security across all environments. It replaces legacy VPNs with a more modern and secure approach.

What are the use cases for Tailscale?

Tailscale can be used for various purposes including homelab VPNs, business VPNs, connecting workloads across clouds and Kubernetes clusters, privileged access management, and securing AI. It's also effective for edge and IoT devices and CI/CD pipelines.

Is Tailscale free to use?

Tailscale offers a freemium model. While there is a free tier for personal use, larger teams or businesses may require paid plans for advanced features and increased scale. Specific pricing details are available on their website.

What platforms does Tailscale support?

Tailscale is available on a wide range of platforms, including macOS, iOS, tvOS, Windows, Linux, and more. This hardware-agnostic approach allows you to securely connect from virtually any device or environment.
