Good for nothing
Seems like a scam. We lose money by paying and transactions show failed. If you don’t know how to take care of an application linked with a website or national railways, then please shut this down. Booking a train ticket in India is a hell of a job. Living in 1990s still in technology
Worst app
It never works properly
File TDR not properly support
My train was late 5 hours, so I want to submit file TDR but on there option not working, that’s why I hav loss lot off money
Inconsistent and poor
Ok, so I’m an OCI holder who does not have an Indian mobile number. Using the website I FINALLY managed to complete registration giving my UK mobile number with ISD. When I try and use the app and login it wants to verify my mobile number but uses +91 as the ISD. It won’t let me edit this field, so I’m unable to complete verification for the mobile number.
I find the whole web and app poorly internationalised. Really putting me off travelling by train.
Will reach out to support, but I don’t think I’ll get a response.

IRCTC App Crashes During Tatkal Booking
Issue Summary
While booking Tatkal tickets in the IRCTC mobile app, the application crashes whenever the page is refreshed or reloaded during the booking process. Due to this unexpected crash, users are unable to complete the Tatkal ticket booking, resulting in failed bookings and poor user experience, especially during peak Tatkal hours.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Open the IRCTC app.
2. Login and search for a train.
3. Proceed to Tatkal booking.
4. Refresh/reload the page or navigate during the booking flow.
5. The application crashes and closes unexpectedly.
Expected Behavior
* The app should remain stable during refresh/reload.
* User session and booking details should be retained.
* Booking process should continue without interruption.
Actual Behavior
* App crashes immediately after refresh/reload.
* User loses booking progress.
* Unable to complete Tatkal booking.
Suggestions for Improvement
1. Implement better crash handling and exception logging.
2. Preserve booking session data during refreshes.
3. Add automatic recovery to restore the booking screen after a crash.
4. Perform load and stress testing specifically for Tatkal booking traffic.
5. Optimize memory usage and API response handling during peak hours.
6. Provide a user-friendly error message instead of crashing.
7. Add monitoring and alerts for crash spikes during Tatkal booking windows.
Impact
This issue directly affects users during time-sensitive Tatkal bookings, where even a few seconds of delay can result in loss of ticket availability.

Useless app
I have been trying to register for the past two days and cannot add to my profile. I cannot use either the website or the app. The customer service and the app is useless. They keep closing the case with resolving it.
Terrible service. Don’t recommend.
Took my money because I am an International Traveller but wouldn’t let me either verify myself so that I can book the tickets or access my details to change my International phone number.

Regarding tickets allotment
I would like to raise a serious concern regarding the railway ticket booking and berth allocation system.
I had booked 3 tickets from Ahmedabad to Ratlam for:
- My grandmother-in-law, aged 81 years
- My father-in-law, aged 58 years
- My Mother-in-law aged 54 years
At the time of booking, around 40 seats were still available in the coach, yet not a single lower berth was allotted to us. Instead, we received middle and upper berths only.
I genuinely want to understand — what criteria or algorithm is being followed while allocating berths, especially for senior citizens? An 81-year-old passenger being denied a lower berth despite seat availability is extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
This is not the first time this has happened with us. It has occurred multiple times, and every journey becomes stressful because fellow passengers are often unwilling to exchange seats. Senior citizens are the ones who suffer the most due to this poor berth management system.
If lower berths are not being prioritized for elderly passengers even when seats are available, then what is the purpose of mentioning senior citizen details during booking?
I request the concerned authorities and the Railway Minister to seriously look into this issue and improve the ticket allocation process. Passengers should not have to struggle for basic comfort and convenience after paying full fares.
This kind of management is truly frustrating and needs immediate attention.

The only one thing which used to work has stopped working
When you make an app for a country of 100 crore population , you have to absolutely expect the worst and plan for the worst. I am not sure what kind of load testing your development team does and who passes the tests, the app is not able to take load on peak hours. You keep kicking me out everytime I click the Train class button (like 3A) to book. You literally crash my app the exact moment. I deleted app , reinstalled trying to win against the time , still this app crashes for no reason. I swtiched from website to app for only one reason that , atleast now I am able to complete one user flow (even with slight delay), rather than getting kicked out evry time , which u made it an absurd habit for website users. Please please requst your developers and devlopment partners to do proper performance testing and load testing of these apps.

Error! Unable to perform this transaction. Please try again.
During creation of my IRCTC account I keep getting:
“Error! Unable to perform this transaction. Please try again”
For hours together Im unable to create my account. There is no clear detail in the error. Feels like the reliability if this online service is questionable. Is an understatement. This is probably the first time a new customer of railways interact with railways - and its such a downer.
Are you Government of India developers who dont care? This is pathetic.

Great
Good one
concerning seat allocation for senior citizens.
I frequently travel with my family, including my father who is above 70 years old and requires support while walking. Despite selecting the option that ensures booking only if preferred berths are allotted, IRCTC still assigns upper or middle berths instead of lower berths.
Most recently, I booked tickets for 21st April from Hisar to Mumbai, and once again, not a single lower berth was allocated to any family member. This is extremely inconvenient and unsafe for my elderly father.
This issue has occurred multiple times in the past. I have also raised concerns earlier via email, but no effective resolution has been provided. If I cancel and rebook, I will incur unnecessary cancellation charges, which is unfair since the system is not honoring the selected preferences.
I request you to kindly look into this matter and ensure that senior citizens are given proper consideration during berth allocation. This will help make travel safer and more comfortable for passengers like my family.

IRCTC app slow, unreliable, causes frequent booking Tatkal ticket failures.
Booking Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC mobile app has been a frustrating experience, especially during high-demand periods. The biggest issue is the delay between each step of the booking process. Even after selecting trains and entering passenger details quickly, the app often takes too long to load the next page or process the request. These delays are critical during Tatkal booking, where tickets sell out within seconds.
Because of this slow response time, many users lose their chance to secure tickets despite being ready and acting fast. The app sometimes freezes, shows loading screens for extended periods, or times out entirely, forcing users to restart the process. This puts mobile users at a disadvantage compared to faster platforms or desktop users with better connectivity.
Improving server response time, optimizing the app’s performance during peak hours, and streamlining the booking flow would make a significant difference. Tatkal booking is highly time-sensitive, and even a few seconds of delay can determine success or failure. Addressing these issues would greatly enhance user satisfaction and trust in the platform.
