Not the best
It’s not made for clients, only trainers. This app has a real clunky user experience, is glitchy and buggy and generally quite hard to use. At times it makes no sense for the user and continuously logs me out. Swing a miss IMO.
Still DIRE
I use Kahunas with my coach and it’s my least favourite part of the service he provides. The nutrition information on food is constantly wrong and it’s a pain to update. The app glitches frequently, even when you’re on the newest version, so you get thrown out of workouts. It doesn’t sync with your Apple Health workouts, so you have to input cardio workouts manually, which is really cumbersome.
The app would be improved exponentially if it integrated with MyFitnessPal - honestly, stop trying to emulate what they do, you just can’t replicate it, so admit defeat and integrate with them instead!
Similarly, it can track my steps but not my workouts from Apple Health, which makes no sense! Give me a full workout calendar which includes the ones I log in Kahunas and the cardio ones I do elsewhere.
I used to use Trainerize and these were basic, foundational functionalities that Kahunas lacks. As such, it’s a massive let-down.
My coach tells me that the interface he has on Kahunas is amazing and so much better for doing weekly check-ins. I’m glad but that is not an experience that’s replicated as a client user.

Glitchy/Laggy. Sub par UI
Can be very glitchy at times when trying to load workout outs.
Logs out randomly for no obvious reason.
User interface looks like a student created it for high school project.
Above is my previous review,
Nothing changed. If I use this app every day, and every day I have to sign back in. Mid session? Random log out.
Let’s create an app, and not do anything about bug fixes or user experience or even our feedback.
People’s business rely on this, and this app is enough to stop business with the PT who uses it. Congrats you’ve costed your clients their customers.
Do better.

More bug fixes please
I submitted reports previously about the overall workout, timer, pauses during the workout in addition to the interval timers, not showing up at all. I would’ve thought that would’ve been fixed in the last release, but it was not. It’s quite hard to read in either light or dark mode the previous values. Additionally, it used to beep through my headphones or vibrate my watch when the round time it was over, but it no longer does that. Plus, it needs full watchOS integration as well as the ability to save meals to keep users from having to go back to previous days and copy forward. However, at this point, I’ll take bug fixes first.

Great for training
Great app that is used to monitor workouts and track food. The one thing I’d like to see in future versions is the connectivity to Apple health.
I love this app
It makes easy to track your progress, steps, water intake. Texting and communicating with your coach is absolutley easy .the only thing that’s is challenging sometimes is log in your food , you don’t always find what you eat so you have to create a new recipe but I use Cal AI app to take picture of my plate and with AI and the description of what I am eating it gives me my macros then I log my macros on kahunas creating a new recipe. Overall is a great app and it’s been helping me to progress better on my fitness journey.

App is great
Would be awesome if you could add a Hevy integration so you could copy workouts over from there. For example Hevy and strava do that ❤️
Client: The App is Getting There
Currently a client and I love most of the features this app has and my ability to communicate with my coach all in one place. The best part is the Workouts section with all the videos and instructions for how to perform the exercises. The worst? The Nutrition section. As someone who has been using MyFitnessPal on and off for years, this section needs some work as the barcode scanner sucks. Most of my foods don’t come up when I scan them and manually entering foods is a real pain. Also, would love to see how many macros I have left up at the top so I don’t have to keep doing the math, as well as what foods are providing me with key nutrients like Fiber. Hoping this app continues to improve.

Great for training
I’ll rate this for what I’m using it for. For training, really good! My coach sets everything, you get ghost values for the following week so if you increase you see everything before. It works well, notifications work and whilst the timer occasionally doesn’t work on one set it is fine on the next one. So far with the check ins, the fact it saves when you exit mid way and go back in, and the workouts it’s great for what I need. I use MacroFactor for food so I can’t comment on that. There are really nice little parts of this that I’m enjoying. Nice work, maybe I’ll try the food when my sub runs out

Terrible for end users
Maybe this is a great app for coaches, but end users can find way better apps that let you edit your own program, and won’t rob you of your history if you stop seeing your coach. Avoid
Scam
I have cancelled my account 2 times as a coach after using the app and not liking it and I have been charged $100 then another $50 2 weeks apart. Have contacted them multiple times and no response. Would rate 0 out 5 stars
Shocking waste of time
By far the worst coaching platform available. On the surface it looks great, but there’s no MFP integration, the check-ins are dreadful and the UI just isn’t very good. Plus, despite not using this platform for the last two months, I am still being charged for it.
App is buggy
Sending clients there onboarding form does not work from the desktop. In app haven’t tried, had to manually re send to make it work. On top of that, the questionnaire should ask about the persons metrics, there is a gap in this app compared to trainerize which is more streamlined.
I can appreciate the updates so far but it’s buggy, and not smooth.

Coaching made harder, not easier
Kahuna is meant to be a coaching app for personal trainers, but it misses the basics.
It connects to Apple Health yet does not read body weight, so the connection adds little value. If a client misses a scheduled workout, the session disappears and has to be added again manually, which makes managing clients harder than it should be.
Trainers should think twice before relying on this app. If it cannot even read weight, how are you meant to properly help and track your clients?

Definitely a step down from most of these apps
Impossible to swap exercises in plans- try searching on name or tags- nothing comes up- really frustrating.
Food tracking is poor- inconsistent calories/macros- MFP much better

Glitch town.
This app has SO MANY GLITCHES it’s actually frustrating. Not smooth in any way. I have been using it over a year (I need to for PT) but omg how has NOTHING improved? I don’t understand how it has updates but still has the same issue 🥀
every-time I need to submit a check in it’s like asking it to go all over the world and bring me gold. Sheesh. Honestly If I could rate it 0 I would.

Feels feature incomplete
The app is frustrating. It connects to HealthKit but doesn’t sync workouts or measurements like weight. Also if payment info fails, it locks you out and doesn’t let you update the payment info. Lastly, exercise swapping is completely broken and doesn’t load any options to swap exercises.
Love this app!
I absolutely love it! It’s very user friendly and allows me to have great communication with my coach!
The glitches are unbearable
The number of times I have to reach out to my coach to tell him the app is glitching AGAIN so he can reach out to the company is insane. There has to be a better solution out there……in case you’re wondering, it crashes and requires a redownload DAILY. Begging my coach to find ANY OTHER app.
Please link to MFP
The workout part of the app is excellent but logging food/meals is tedious. Would love it to pull macros from My Fitness Pal through - please ❤️
