Beta Vibes

I tried Doneit and was quite excited to finally have a Kanban app on my phone. Unfortunately, it has some pretty fatal flaws. One major one is that when you check off a task you can never change your mind. Ever. It is just gone. Bye bye.

It feels like there are some basic things which the developers just haven’t thought through yet.

Might get good in the future but it’s not there yet.

Löscht Daten die vorher angelegt wurden.

Die App Ist extrem kompliziert aufgebaut und es wird um 100 Ecken gedacht.
Am aller ärgerlichsten finde ich allerdings das angelegte Daten gelöscht werden. Ich wollte eine unkomplizierte App haben. Ich hab es mehrfach versucht und ich bin sicherlich kein DAU

Kann in dem derzeitigen Zustand keinerlei Daten anvertraut werden

Anmerkung für den Entwickler:

Import und Export Funktionen wären sehr hilfreich da man ja irgendwo bereits die Daten verfügbar hat und nicht alles immer händisch eingeben möchte.

Das geht auf jeden fall noch besser da ist ordentlich Luft nach oben

Really wanted to like

Critical bad design—deleting a tag *also* deletes associated tasks. Very. Bad. Design. Basic database skills. Would not use this for anything beyond a grocery list—and not really for that either. It also deletes the wrong items! Create a folder name it “Test”. Create a category with the same name “Test”. Delete the folder—it will delete the category too!! How aweful. That means the title is also the ID or there’s some really bad decisions being made. Like, why would I be able to have the same titles then? Either way it’s bad. Nobody could possibly be using this seriously. There is NO undo so it’s all gone forever. Scary thing is…what else behaves like this. And this is with version THREE?!?! Peace out.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback! Doneit doesn't delete tasks when you delete a tag. The tag is simply removed from the tasks it was assigned to. The app also doesn't delete categories when you delete a folder. Doneit always shows a confirmation before deleting items, with a message that deleted items can't be restored. Kanban Board Needs Work

I really appreciate the UI and simplicity of this app when making tasks for many different things. It allows you to sort all your tasks with tags, folders, and categories. I find that having to add tasks to a folder after making them outside of the folder is inconvenient, especially when I’m trying to make a folder for programming projects or school work.

The biggest flaw to me though is that the Kanban Board just isn’t intuitive when making custom areas to put tasks in. I want to be able to make a task and have it go in the starting category I make. For example, “Brainstorm Project Ideas” would go in “to-do” and not “uncategorized.” I also would love the tasks to go the next category, for example “Clean Up styles.css” in “almost done,” instead of just getting a strike-through and staying in that category when checked.

Overall it’s a really great app for task management, but the whole reason I got this app was for keeping up with tasks mainly with the Kanban board. I would recommend!

Downloaded, opened it, looked around, try to add something, deleted it. Elapsed time about 3 minutes total. This app has lots of overlapping features, and no obvious method for how you might use it. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Use a todo list app written by people who want to help you do things instead.

Nichts ist perfekt, aber das ist schon extrem dicht an dem, was ich haben wollte. Es lassen sich sogar eigene Datenfelder hinzufügen, z.B. "Prüfungsart" ("Klausur", "Präsentation", …) - und die erscheinen dann auch in den Erfassungsdialogen - man muss nicht alles mit den Tags lösen. Apple-typische Handhabung und Optik.

Sync issues in an otherwise beautiful app

Almost perfect design-wise, when it works it does exactly what I need and is a great native app across all platforms, with features like widgets, control center controls, a timeline view and limitless options for customising attributes to fit all types if projects. Unfortunately I’ve had significant sync issues, especially on the Mac, where tasks simply never show up. I’ve tried using a Doneit-only database and also syncing with reminders but the issue persists, and on a couple of occasions I lost the contents of whole projects, including what would otherwise have been safe in Reminders. My most common use case is adding tasks while offline on my phone (public transit, underground) as I do a lot of my planning for the day during my commute and then not having the work I’ve done sync back to my Mac after. I look forward to coming back to this app when the reliability of sync improves as it really is very well designed.

More than I need but…

I’ve had this app for a few months now and didn’t consistently use it due to it not being feature specific for my needs. However, I looked beyond it being more capable than what I was looking for and treated it like any other product and focused on my requirements since it is designed to be used in this manner. I’m pleased with it just as much as I am with their other app Accountit.

Everything’s okay, except Chinese translations

The translation quality in the app is significantly impacting the user experience. Kanban means “moving tasks as cards on a board through defined phases.” This software cannot do that—and if it can, the GUI is useless. In the 21st century, software should be intuitive to use. And anyone who calls themselves Kanban should deliver Kanban. Too bad...
