Too many scams
There’s no accountability for the campaigns. Too many scam campaigns that don’t get fulfilled. Kickstarter is not interested in stoping them since they get their cut. It’s not worth it anymore.
Worst app ever
I have to look up my campaigns to see them. They’re not listed in my profile. What’s the point?

Spam Magnet
I like Kickstarter. I use Kickstarter. Be aware however that the minute you actually use it you are committing yourself to a never ending stream of “Trending Kickstarter” email spam that will never stop no matter how many times you ask to be removed from the list (I believe these are multiple actors who exploit the same tagline). Is it Kickstarter’s fault? Maybe, maybe not, but it doesn’t matter, whatever the reason it’s a major issue that you will deal with if you use this app.

Just “fine”
Update: Wow, I’m shocked that I’m reading my original review and none of these issues have ever been addressed. I remember being at a conference where the new Kickstarter CEO said he wanted to make improvements to the app and company. That was…4 years ago? And since then, the Project Alerts feed has become completely useless. A red number appears in the Activity bubble, but when you tap it, it goes away and say you’re up to date. Like, why even have that feature if it is so useless? Also, there’s no way to look at upcoming projects in specific project types in the app. Anyway…yeah, I like Kickstarter as a company, but the app is junk.
Original: I will say, the Kickstarter app functions just fine in its current form. However, there are a number of things the developers could do to make it great or stellar. One thing is allowing the user to pinch and zoom into listings. Sometimes there are pictures that are difficult to see in portrait mode. Sure, you can sort of zoom in, but you have to keep both fingers on the screen in order to keep the picture where you want it. Even then, one needs to move the picture around in order to keep focused. Of course, this wouldn’t be a huge concern if landscape mode didn’t block out most of the content on the page, necessitating the use of portrait. Another issue is that the app just doesn’t have the same filters to see projects that the website does. There’s currently no way to see upcoming projects unless they’ve already been bookmarked. And speaking of bookmarks, I use the same bookmarked searches EVERY TIME I’m on the app. Why then do I manually have to go through Kickstarter’s default views EVERY TIME when I only want to see the views I’m interested in? The last issue is really with Kickstarter itself, not specifically to the app, but this seems like the best forum with which to lodge a complaint. I’ve sometimes preordered or backed things post-campaign, so even though I missed the campaign itself, I’m very interested in following the updates because they concern me, too. Yet, even though I bookmark the campaign page, I don’t see the updates in my feed or email. I manually have to go back and check those pages now and then to see the latest. By the time I think to check these campaigns, several updates have gone by wherein there was pertinent information. Gamefound doesn’t have this issue. Too soon to tell if BackerKit does. These all seem like very simple UI fixes that are well overdue, which is why I’ve subtracted a full star for each one. Oh yeah, and another review just reminded me…dark mode would be nice. Very strange that isn’t on this app at this point.

Spam galore
Even when you have all notifications turned off, you get spam email about signing up for various kickstarters.
Could of been great
So many excellent ideas and projects that could be supported. But due to the indifference on Kickstarters end too many are now scams. KS just shrugs and pass the buck. I guess as long s they got there %, then there’s no problem.
Pay attention to the amount asking to be raised compared to what they really get. This by no means helps guide in determining what to back. It is interesting that a person/company is only asking for $1500 or so USD. Ends up with $150,000 to whatever incredible amount they get, only to go dark , ghost all pledgers. KS simply says ; sorry , you will have to try to contact the creator.

Scam
Creator takes the funds and disappears.
Wishes and Dreams
That’s all they are selling on Kickstarter anymore. You won’t get burned too badly on small ticket items; but anything that seems too good to be true, is a scam.
So many scammers
So many scammers on there and kickstarter don’t care they get there cut if you get your item or not.
This company is terrible
Kickstarter used to be decent. Now they let a bunch of scammer companies take money and fight with your credit card companies to make sure you don’t get refunded.
Promoting scammers
I have made comments and also based on kickstarter request to file a report on the creator, yet there is no response to a 6 months delay. kickstarter I suspect promoting scammers to get their cut of percentage to start a crowd funding, when the creator fails to fulfill the promise nothing is being done. Very poor managements.

Win some lose some
Some projects have been scams from the start but others have turned out great. Still others arent a scam but fail to live up to the hype or break and the creator has gone out of business.
Never received purchases or refunds
Two projects I backed never followed through and no refunds issues by kickstarter
Total scam!
I, along with over 1,950 others, supported a campaign that was scheduled to deliver our product in December 2025. We've continuously asked for updates. As of June 17, 2026, it's been more than two months since we received one. The last communication was April 10.
(1) The product has materially change in size and color options making it undesirable to many.
(2) Only 50 units have shipped with no plan shared on the remaining 1900+.
(3) They announced an additional $150 was due for shipping that was never previously disclosed.
(4) Comments on the sparse updates and messages sent to the organizer go unanswered.
(5) When trying to report the campaign to Kickstarter noting rule and term violations, it errored out for me on each attempt over the last two months.
(6) Those few that have received their unit have expressed concern over its safety.
This appears to be a money grab with no support from the platform.

Zero Accountability
They just let anyone with an AI rendered video of a product on here. First time ever buying a product, the 'company' behind it disappears completely, left with a comment section full of people requesting their money back saying they're filing reports with attorney offices and the federal trade commission. Save yourself the headache and robbery and just don't bother; kickstarter could care less that the company hasn't released any update 3 months after the product was supposed to SHIP. Just glad I found out at the cost of $100 and not $1000 like other poor souls.

No Support From Kickstarter
Got burned a twice and no response from Kickstarter. But the projects got our money and are being sold on Amazon among other sites.
Total scam
I trusted this site to vet its creators but have been scammed out of $250 for backing projects that as soon as they hit there fund date ghost everyone. This is a joke don’t use unless you don’t care about your hard earned money.
