Good, but not anymore
Kinnu is pretty good wealth of knowledge, but I believe they rely heavily on AI and have mediocre course material. The learning model is good, but the actual course material is not the best if an expert in the field wrote it.
I recently delved deep into the chess course to test the waters because chess was a subject that I knew a lot about. The advice for chess is mediocre in the first few lessons, and they use AI pictures that do not represent an actual chess match. A specific example that I can cite of the top of my head is the Scholar’s mate part in ‘mating patterns’: they advised 2…g6 to avoid 2.Qh5. This is how you lose a rook. They also do not give specific illustration on the difference between Arabian and Anastasia mate in that lesson. The chess course over all isn’t going to put good habits in a novice chess player.
I do feel really bad for users of this app because they have a donation system now where people pay monthly for this AI slop.

Positively addictive
Love this app and the beautifully curated contents. Being a visual learner, it is so much fun to learn about new concepts and repeat in a way that it really sticks. Other apps left me frustrated trying to remember which paths of learning I started and how to keep track. This just happens naturally without any efforts in Kinnu. Thank you for this beautiful app

Very useful and well laid out
However there is one thing I would change. Is that once you are reading it would be good to have a timeline at the top of the page of text, eg like circa 1492 etc as sometimes the reader may get lost
GenAI usage
I did a couple of lessons and noticed the images had captions stating they were made using AI. While I can appreciate admitting to its use, I think it’s ridiculous to use AI to make a Venn diagram. Aside from the AI use, there are no sources cited or authors of lessons credited. It really makes you wonder if what you’re learning is actual fact or not.
