Great for new businesses
This app is great at getting your foot in the door. When I started my business I was able to use lawnstarters and it helped tremendously. I no longer use them because they have very low pricing for my area. But it will help you get your foot in the door if you’re just starting off!!
Terrible app
They post jobs every day but nothing’s ever over 50 I spoke with the customer and they told me they paid 125 so they get half of our hard earned money while we get a little Lil sorry doesn’t see it right at all. Not to mention some of the clients can lie and say you didn’t do a job at all when you have the before and after pictures and they take their word over. I would advise any and everyone not to download and work with this app. There are other and better ones out here.

Tip baiting
They allow customers to remove tips that you have already received in payouts from several weeks before. Then they deduct from your current payouts.
Cheap
The amount of grass you have to cut just for a 39$ payout is insane. People are definitely lying about the yard size, or LawnStarter is taking a huge cut! Be warned. These are not “starter” projects, it’s the real deal football field and the payout is dirt, dirt cheap. If you hire a 2nd group and split it. You’ll have $15-20 each for 50 yards of grass. - expenses (gas for tools - $10)(car gas - $20) minimum. You do the math. Negative.

False advertisement
I ran across this jobs lead app on social media. I read some of the comments and asked questions. One comment stood out…the app will make it appear as if jobs are available until you give it your banking info and then poof. And that’s my exact experience. The bank access isn’t just for direct deposit. They basically get to watch all your transactions. The app also pushes to have your background location services turned on 24/7. If that doesn’t scream “we are selling your data” then I don’t know what else does. That’s my experience and my opinion is it is junk and borderline a scam.

Providers: DO NOT Trust this company
LawnStarter deactivated my account without warning, without investigation, and without ever giving me a chance to explain my side. Years of solid work meant nothing to them. Had to go through the Better Business Bureau just to get any response — their support is otherwise unreachable. This company treats the people who do the actual work as disposable in an instant. If you’re a provider considering this platform, know this: they will cut you loose instantly with zero accountability. Do not trust them to have your back.

1 Star — Deactivated After a Year of Good Work, Zero Explanation, Zero Accountability
This is the worst app out there for landscapers. This is not an app I would recommend to anyone trying to build a landscaping business. One year on this platform, solid track record. Then one bad week — equipment broke down on a job, had to reschedule another due to a conflict — and I got two below-average reviews. Days later, deactivated. No warning, no chance to explain, nothing. This app is extremely unprofessional. I called support twice — no explanation either time. I sent four emails over a weekend asking for a real answer. Zero responses. This app is complete trash. There are better apps out there that don’t have this BS. A company willing to cut off someone over two reviews with no conversation, no warning, and no working support process has no business calling itself a platform for independent contractors. If you’re considering this platform know that your account can be shut down overnight for reasons they won’t explain with a support system that won’t respond no matter how many times you reach out. Do better.

Horrible app
I’ve been using this app for years now and one day mysteriously my account gets disabled and they tell me they can’t help me or escalate the situation or even tell me why it happened. What a slap in the face for real loyal workers
Job previews
The app is definitely super helpful for starting out, but the thing I think would be super helpful for all pros would be if yall would attach photos of the actual property by the customer the day they requested a service, instead of a satellite view, so that your not guessing what your getting into or super high unexpected grass upon arrival. It would prevent people from either dropping the job or submitting a new requested quote for super tall grass because most likely the “new mowing” jobs will be all over the place with weeds and clearly an unmaintained lawn. (Atleast in my experience)

Spare yourself, do not use
The app is poorly constructed and not well thought out. This causes issues that you as a pro will be blamed and penalized for. If your area isn’t full of jobs then their punitive “pause” on your account is effectively a permanent ban. Once your account is paused, you will be unable to accept new jobs until you completed 5 jobs. Not sure how that’s possible. Then out of the blue I get an email from their legal department threatening a $5000 lawsuit, but zero details. Please spare yourself the time and frustration of dealing with this company and app.

Super helpful for starters
If you’re just opening your business, this app makes it SUPER easy to get properties and get money. The payouts aren’t as much as they should be and the cancelation/completion formulas are rigged to not let us get a higher level… but you get money regardless.

I have waited and contacted support multiple times and I haven’t gotten my first pay even though they say they will pay me
