Near perfection

In order to limit time wasted on social media apps, I’ve been installing and uninstalling the apps when I want to use them. This still leaves me vulnerable to pointless scrolling when they are installed. I love that this app lets me decide when and how I’d like to use my time.

Amazing free app!

I have gotten so much of my time back with Limit. I had already purchased the company’s other product, Freedom, and the combination of the two means I have been scrolling for less than 20 minutes each day and never actually using all of my allotted limit!

The Best

Only free app blocker I’ve found that isn’t stuffed with adds, free trials, or other bs. It’s helped me get hours of my time back and it’s simple design is easy to navigate 😁😁.

Not able to add anything

The app only let you set limit once when it’s the first time using it. After that, you can’t add anymore apps.

Nice Timing.

I love how you don’t have to pay for it and it really does help me take down my screen time

Very simple and useful.

Again, really simple and cool with no ads or subscriptions. The app can restrict access to apps on your phone and unlock them for some limited time. Very useful when I just lock in for a few days before tests.

This App Gave Me My Time Back

After the first week of using it, it’s already saved me a lot of time away from social media. It’s a brilliant app that every entrepreneur and students should have to avoid distractions and stay focused on their goals. I used to spend hours on social media, now I’ve limited it to just 30 minutes a day. 👐🏼

A true game-changer

I’ve been using Limit since it released a little over a month ago, with the goal of reducing the amount of mindless time I spend scrolling social media. I’ve tried several screen time apps, and Limit has been the most simple and effective by far — I’ve cut my social media usage by at least 75% (no exaggeration), and the time that I do spend on it now is much more intentional and in shorter sessions. In a digital landscape flooded with algorithms specifically developed to prey upon my attention span and impulse control, I consider Limit to be an essential counterbalance — an invaluable wellness tool for modern life. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The app’s inversion of the typical approach to limit implementation has been remarkably effective for me. Other screen time apps I’ve tried start off with open access to the distracting apps/sites, and the limit kicks in once I’ve used my time budget. Limit flips this around — distractions are locked down by default, and I have to go out of my way to intentionally opt into using part of my budget to access them. I appreciate having to take the extra step of unlocking access through the Limit app itself, not just tapping a button on the lock screen of the distracting app.

Limit’s approach adds just enough well-placed friction to short-circuit my established automatic behaviors and replace them with moments of reflection and opportunities to be intentional. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve thoughtlessly opened a distracting app, been met with the Limit lock screen, and thought to myself “Oh right, I don’t actually want to do that right now.”

I also love that despite being free, the app has no ads — not even for Freedom, Limit’s paid sister-app. Refreshing.

I’m looking forward to seeing if/how Limit evolves. I see some room for improvement, but with this app already being generously offered for free, I’m not sure how much to expect as far as feature development goes. I’d love to have the option of more granular control (ie setting specific limits for specific apps rather than one umbrella limit that all apps fall under). It would be great to be able to set a custom default unlock time (it’s set to 10 minutes but I usually use 5 minutes or less per session), and have a live session timer countdown on my phone’s Dynamic Island. I think my only real complaint is that the app has an imprecise application of my time budget; unlocked time and active use time are different metrics, and I wish that was better reflected. This is one area where the unlocked-by-default style of screen time management apps feels more accurate/fair than Limit. Currently, if I tell Limit I want to unlock access for 10 minutes and something comes up — say I’m pulled away by a phone call 2 minutes into my session — the session timer continues to run my budget down even though I’m not using the distracting app for 80% of my session. I understand why it’s structured the way it is, and think it’s smart to have a timer for a session, but I don’t want the whole session to count against my limited-app time budget if I didn’t actually spend my time there.

I’m so grateful for this app and am happy to navigate small flaws for the sake of the immense improvements it’s brought to my digital mindset and habits. Thank you for freely offering the world such a meaningful tool!

Easy to use

Love this app! Super easy to set up and very simple interface. One thing I’d like to see is a live activity in the Dynamic Island or lock screen that shows time remaining for a session.

Helpful app, but has one significant problem

I've been using the Freedom app for a while and so far I like using Limit to further reduce my screen time. Unfortunately I have had difficulty setting up the apps and websites that are timed by Limit. Each time I try to select a category to limit, the app crashes and refreshes with an error message. This makes it difficult to exclude certain apps from falling under the daily limit - it just crashes over and over.

So simple. So powerful.

This simple app is an amazing tool that in one day has entirely transformed my digital habits. It’s the best of one sec and clearspace wrapped up in one simple app that demands absolutely nothing from me-it just quietly works in the background. For free. Wow.

Fantastic app!

I love the app! I really feel like I have control over the distractions and time I spend scrolling on social media and definitely helps me be more mindful with how I spend my time. It’s very straightforward and easy to use.

Spend Time Budget

Helps me be proactive about how I budget my time on social media. Thank you!!
