Brilliant

I truly inspiring and refreshing way to look at self-care and reinventing the way we think about mental health! Thank you, Jonathan for this!

Like no other app…

If you are having a tricky time or are persistently hard on yourself here is a really helpful resource and tool to assist you in gaining a healthier perspective, insight into where you could help yourself more in your life, and to encourage you to have a bit more empathy for yourself. This app doesn’t shout at you, it gives you gentle encouragement, and it’s been a comfort and boost for me during a difficult time. I go back to the app’s toolbox when I need reminded of how valuable it is to have connection with the people and other things that really matter in my life.

Effective and simple

This is a beautifully simple app that does exactly what it says. The book itself is a masterpiece and the app helps put its value into daily practice. It's quick and easy, but significantly changes how I approach my day or to what I look for to feel connected again.

Canceled account still trying to charge

I canceled my account. Yet still getting attempted charges. I can’t even log into the app anymore BECAUSE I canceled. I can’t find an email and apple is saying I have to let it charge my account t and then dispute. Please contact me

Lost connections

Loved your book, mostly loved the feelings of positivity gained from your insights. When I feel overwhelmed I want to “go big” instead of hiding in depression and hopelessness. Thank you for your energy in this direction. Sincerely, navarre2008

Love it!

Really enjoying this app!

Lost Connections

A beautiful app. I loved the founders books. I just don’t have time for the app. I do therapy, write, exercise and use the calm app. These are all helpful tools.

This is my third attempt at posting a review for this App on the apple app site…

I have composed two heartfelt and thoughtful reviews already for this app and submitted them. It takes a great deal of energy and effort to do so. I feel that apple is deliberately suppressing my praise as the app helps me to free myself from the addictive components of smartphone use.
If this makes it up, at this point all I can say is, had it not been for insights and benefits of this wonderful extension of Johann Hari’s written work and Nickolas B. And the team responsible for this wonderful and positively engaging resource, I would not of had the fortitude to try and post for a third time.
This app is delivers what the Webs first users envisioned cyberspace as… A safe place where like minded people could interact, learn, grow, heal and benefit from each other’s experiences and dreams.

Brilliant

Such a refreshing and important approach to depression!

48 hour trial period, not 72 hours

Super sketchy.
I have done trials of paid apps and never had a problem ending the free trial if the app didn’t meet my needs.

This app said 3 days. On day 3 I went to my subscriptions to cancel but it was already listed as a purchase. I tried to cancel subscription and deleted the app. Lot and behold, I was charged for a year’s subscription when I looked at my credit card statement that had a larger than normal charge on the Apple store. I contacted apple and they gave me a refund.

I didn’t like the app (weird, clunky interface, generally unhelpful, annoying check ins and inability to navigate within the course, locked into step by step modules). I especially didn’t like the misleading trial period.

It’s especially egregious considering people who are clinically depressed often can’t navigate details like being charged for an app or requesting a refund. I’m in grief which has a lot of overlap with depression but I may have some better days which is how I could rectify this.

Bad app, bad business practices. Walk away or just get the free stuff.

Very helpful

I downloaded this app after reading Johann’s book, as I loved it. I have only got the free version because the paid version was a bit too much for me. Would be better if it was a little cheaper. I like the morning and evening prompts, and do think it brings awareness of and control over emotions. The only thing is sometimes they are a bit repetitive I.e., I don’t have that many people “I’ve been wanting to each out to for a long time”. I like the idea and premise though and will keep using it. ❤️

Well planned and executed app

Really well laid out and easy to use, with great content. Has really helped me.

Very rich and useful

Very rich and useful app full of useful tools and insights into an area than many are struggling with. Have recommended to a few friends, one who I know is already benefit.

Journaling made easy

This is a fantastic app to help you set up your day with positivity and then later to reflect on how you got on.
A built in community to connect with like minded people is hugely helpful and reinforces your not alone.
Their are sessions built in the app which educate and help you think.

Fav new app

A great way to kickstart some personal growth

The cost makes it out of reach.

I was so excited to use this app. It wasn’t till after download that we are told how expensive it is. What a shame. Once again mental health help for those who need it most is out of reach financially. I’m feeling very disappointed.

Why?

I absolutely love Johann Hari's books but I think I have missed the point of this. Why do I need an app? Doesn't this go against everything Johann Harri puts forward in his books? Is this a good time to be asking people another £49.99 a year? I tried one meditation but I am sorry to say there are far superior subscription services available with far more content that cost much less (Calm for example). It even seems a little hypocritical after just completing his recent book - 'Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention'. How many apps do we need that constantly require updates on the client when the browser would suffice?

Offers Value Much Greater Than Its Cost

What Johann Hari offers is a practical way to easily access and use his evidence-based philosophies and unique practical experience without having to memorize his book. He has retooled and simplified his most salient, pertinent concepts and made them available for every day use.

The cost is not even one half of the cost of one session with a therapist, which is a grab bag of what you’ll get, and it’s good for a whole year.

As a harm-reduction behaviorist who has incorporated Hari’s advice with great success, I can attest to no greater good being possible from the paltry sum asked for this app.

A perspective on depression that makes sense to me

I love how the app takes you through its whole perspective on depression and offers a reflective process that allows you to determine different external factors that would be impacting you. I learned a lot and have started making more of an effort to connect with people I care about and it’s been really heart warming.

Great free options

I haven’t tried the paid version of the app but I love the morning and evening reflections, the journaling section, and the free meditations.
