One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had
I placed a Click & Collect order while on holiday because Mango’s estimated delivery date indicated it would arrive before I travelled home. Instead, it arrived after the estimated delivery date, meaning I was no longer able to collect it.
While I appreciate that delivery estimates are not always guaranteed, what followed was far more disappointing than the one-day delay itself.
I spent well over an hour with customer service, was passed between advisers, and was repeatedly assured that the store would be contacted, my order cancelled and my refund processed. Days later, I discovered this had not happened.
I then learned that my cancellation request had been sent to the store on 24 July, but Mango had received no response from its own store. Rather than taking ownership of the situation or finding another way to resolve it, I was simply told to wait until the store either responded or eventually returned the parcel after the collection period expired.
To make matters worse, part of my purchase was paid using a gift card. Because Mango would not process the cancellation, those funds remained tied up, preventing me from placing a replacement order while the items were still available.
Customer service also suggested I visit the store to tell them I would not be collecting the order. The store was hundreds of miles away because it was near my holiday destination—the very reason I couldn’t collect it in the first place.
What disappointed me most was the complete lack of accountability. Throughout the process I received inconsistent information, had to chase every update myself, and was left dealing with the consequences of Mango’s internal communication issues.
I also feel Mango’s Click & Collect delivery times are unreasonably slow. Waiting over a week for an order to reach a store is already disappointing, and then for it to arrive after the estimated delivery date made the order unusable for me. Many retailers now offer much faster Click & Collect services, making Mango’s service feel well below the standard customers have come to expect.
This wasn’t simply about a delayed parcel. It was about a company that failed to take ownership when something went wrong and left the customer to absorb the inconvenience.
I will not be ordering from Mango again.
